Adenshur Kenghym (A-den-shure Ken-jim)
A Privileged Birth
Born Lempe Iraenox to Diracusta, Matriarch of Clan Iraenox of the Dark Elves, Lempe's birth was a severe disappointment to his mother, a Priestess of Ligeoa because he was male, and she had not been able to birth a female descendant. Lempe had four siblings of note Tenacitat an older brother of the blood who died when Lempe was twenty years old, and three younger sisters Ligara the oldest daughter of Diracusta who was not of the blood, and two sisters who were of the blood Pulchra and Fera. Diracusta's second born daughter, her eldest of the blood, Pulchra, was her heir. Lempe was sent to the Cormaeum Academy where he was trained for his future as a consort to secure political alliances for his mother and sister, and for a career in the military as an officer in the elite Iraenox forces. He was given to Amarane Carnis of clan Clan Carnis as consort in his youth for four years, and to Serrar Sanguinem of clan Clan Sanguinem for six years in his early twenties before returning to his mother's household and entering the military. Lempe rose to the rank of major working in both infantry and calvary units by the age of fifty two. He would likely have eventually died in obscurity before the age of eight humdred, as part of a long line of male military combatants fighting against the dwarves and in the constant inter-clan skirmishes that make up the long history of the dark elves. A fate, not worse than death, but certainly not remarkable had it not been for one of the most bloody and violent occurances in dark elf culture - a Purgatine.A Brutal Past
Lempe was the sole survivor of the Black Fire Massacre, which was conducted against Clan Iraenox by a coalition of three dark elf clans. Over five thousand Iraenox clan members were murdered over a two-day killing spree that left seven thousand dead and the streets of Cormaeum scarlet with pools dark elf blood. Lempe, who was on scout duty when the purgatine was initiated, killed the soldiers who had been tasked with his assassination and fled from the dark caverns to seek safety with his enemies the dwarves. As he crossed enemy lines, he was at first targeted by the dwarven forces, but was rescued by Donoma BlazingForge, a Priestess of the Great Dwarf at the god's direction. Lempe was taken prisoner by soldiers of the Stone Throne and interrogated, then eventually released to the custody of the temple. When he decided to cross into dwarven territory, Lempe chose a new name for himself, selecting the name of the founding dagger of his bloodline Adenshur (meaning Savage Dagger in ancient elven), and attaching the name of the Catacombs of the dead clans in Cormaeum - Kenghym (meaning Forgotten or Forgotten Paths in ancient dark elf) - as his surname.A Shadowy Future
Adenshur joined the Knife Brigade when he left the Temple of the Great Dwarf, the central set of heros in the classic adventure story "Tales of the Knife Brigade" by Thoven Chorter. This famous story describes Adenshur as an ancient and wise mage who provides sage advice and deep magic to the heros in moments of crisis. The question of the degree to which Chorters work was purely fictional or based on real characters has recently been raised anew based on the discovery of the Adenshur Scrolls an ancient manuscript that appears to be the diary of Adenshur Kenghym. The document was found in the recent renovation of the Temple of the Great Dwarf in the historical section of the underground dwarven city of Uftlon. In contrast to "The Tales of the Knife Brigade" the Adenshur Scrolls portray Adenshur Kenghym as a highly disoriented and struggling young dark elf druid of questionable morals grappling with cultural integration and the loss of family. The Adenshur Scrolls do lend credence to Chorter's overall plot in the Tales of the Knife Brigade in which the troupe embarks on a mission to save the world from the historically well documented Eldritch invasion that arose shortly after the death of Yulasta during The Lost War. "Out of Darkness" is Adenshur Kenghym's story as conveyed in the words of the Adenshur scrolls.Relationships
History
Adenshur was assigned to guard his youngest sister while she was still a child. He has very strongly protective feelings towards her, and would kill for her or die for her in a heartbeat. He would never allow those feelings to be observed by her or by any other dark elves or others. Fera considers Aden in the light of a protective older brother & boring playmate - a bot of a bore because he was always trying to keep her out of trouble. Both are blood Iraenox - the magic of their clan recognizes their legitimacy. Dark elves do not track male ancestors, neither know their sire, but it is unlikely this is the same male. Fera was killed in the slaughter of Aden's house. He was on an assignment for his miltary unit, but will probably never forgive himself for her death.

Both are blood Iraenox - the magic of their clan recognizes their legitimacy. Dark elves do not track male ancestors, neither know their sire, but it is unlikely this is the same male. Pulchra was killed in the slaughter of Aden's house. He was on an assignment for his miltary unit, but will probably feel guilty about her death for the rest of his life.
The Tome of Ghym - Dark Relic of a Powerful Clan
"The Tome was old when old was young."Literally Book of Ways, the Tome of Ghym is Adenshur Kenghym's personal spell book and most prized possession. Opinionated but not sentient, old, but not frail, it knows those of the Iraenox blood like no other, and resists revealing it's secrets to outsiders.
