Uftlon

Capital of the Dwarven Kingdom.  Traditionally, Uftlon was established during the first calling of the dwarves to the All Father and was the first settlement of senient beings in the world, all other peoples still living a nomadic life during this period.  Archaelogical sites  within the city show signs of habitation as early as seven thousand years before the advent of humans in Arrhynsia.     Uftlon is a major city with 80,000 inhabitants, the largest underground city in the world.  It's primary economic basis is industries based in local ores, specifically the grullek of the Massif is fond of gold, cold iron, mithril and opal gemstones.  A large supply of coal, and the presence of the underground Plaicester River provides the resource engine for the economic development of the city.  Government in the presence of the Stone Throne, and the eternal war with the dark elves constitutes a major industry.     The city also has a thriving arts scene supported by the merchant and upper classes, and is headquarters to seven international trade guilds with fourteen major international guild branches doing business in the city.  In addition, fourty three national and regional guilds are centered in Uftlon.   The Stone Throne University is centered in the second cavern of the city and has programs in all areas of magical study, as well as six additional colleges of Mining, Smelting, Forging, Smithing and Gemology.  All the colleges of Stone Sciences are collaborative with the Stone Guilds for their discipline and demand multi-year skills application as a condition of graduation at all levels from bachelors to doctorate degrees.  A cooperative program between the colleges of magic and the weapons smithing programs has resulted in the production of legendary weapons of lore including Soul Reaper, Justifier, and Penitent's Remorse.
