Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Kello is muscular but lean, though this is hard to determine as he is seldom out of his armor. He is a deity so naturally very fit and in excellent health. He is quite agile despite his preference for heavy armor and weapons that rely on strength.

Facial Features

Kello is generally depicted as having piercing brown eyes, bushy brown eyebrows, and a square jaw with a small goatee. He has an aquiline nose and thin lips. He is bald except for his facial hair and eyebrows though whether that is due to circumstances or choice is unknown. His depictions always have him wearing a full helmet.

Identifying Characteristics

As Kello always appears in full armor there are no identifying features to be seen. It is speculated that he bears the scars on his back where once he had wings, but this is only speculation as no one has ever seen his bare back.

Special abilities

Kello can see any distance and hear any distance as if with clairvoyance and clairaudience but with unlimited range, this ability functions across planar boundaries and includes darkvision and true seeing. He also possesses blindsight out to a range of 250 ft.

Apparel & Accessories

Kello always manifests and is depicted wearing plate mail armor. The armor is silver with gold trim and bears a depiction of a lantern (his symbol) on the breastplate. In addition, he carries a bastard sword and a shield likewise silver with gold trim and bearing the lantern depiction. The shield has spikes on the edge and can be used as a weapon, though he seldom needs to resort to that. His helmet is gold and bears a spike on the crown and conceals most of his face. On top of the armor he wears a blue cape with a crimson lining.

Specialized Equipment

Kello’s bastard sword is a +5-flaming burst speed weapon. His shield is a spiked, large steel shield +5 with the radiant and rallying powers. His armor is full plate +5 with the champion, radiant, and heavy fortification abilities. His helmet functions as a helm of brilliance. His cape functions as both a major and minor cloak of displacement. His boots have the properties of boots of speed, and tremor boots.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Kello started his existence as an angel, most lore claims he was an movanic deva, though a few accounts claim other types of angels. He was a leader of a platoon tasked with guarding and patrolling a section of the celestial boundary, that bordered on the Maelstrom. It was on such a patrol during the godswar that he spied an infernal legion attempting to breach one of the gates. The guard force at the gate had already fallen so thinking fast he dispatched a messenger to call for reinforcements and led the rest of his platoon to the gate. When the legion broke through many of his command broke and fled, but he rallied those who remained to and managed to hold the gate until reinforcements arrived. He was the sole survivor of his platoon (save for the messenger) and gravely injured. While he soon recovered, he had lost his wings in the battle.

Utu, touched by his devotion to duty and quick thinking elevated the angel to the ranks of the divine, placing him in charge of all the celestial defenses, and making him the patron of those who keep watch. Since that time, he has performed his duty zealously always watching the celestial realms for any sign of incursion. While he cannot be everywhere at once he regularly walks all the guard points and routinely sends out teams tasked with finding weaknesses in the celestial defenses.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Kello’s greatest accomplishment was the one that resulted in his elevation to divine status. That was also his greatest achievement. Slightly less noteworthy was his planning of the defense of the Battle of Pantasbipim, where he an Rohkea got into a heated argument over whether to use and offensive or defensive strategy. While Rohkea ultimately won the debate and launched her offensive attack, Kello stayed behind with a small contingent and when his foresight proved right was able to not only hold his position but managed to launch a sally that rescued Rohkea and her forces. Since then he has performed his duties without comment, seeing his work as it’s own reward.

Failures & Embarrassments

It is said that Kello has never failed in his sworn duty, and as such has no embarrassing incidents, except for a prank once played on him by Sanoma. Sanoma once managed to paint his armor a garish mixture of pink and purple making the normally staid and serious Kello look utterly ridiculous. Since Kello found out right before he was going on patrol he had no time to undo Sanoma’s work and as such was forced to conduct his patrol in the brightly colored armor.

Intellectual Characteristics

Kello is intelligent about on par with a highly educated mortal. He is however a bit close-minded considering anyone who does not adhere to a code of honor such as his own to be dishonorable and therefore not worthy of his consideration. While he is smart and wise, he can be a slow thinker at times particularly when it is something not relevant to martial matters. In fact, he gives little thought to anything that is not a martial matter. In matters of war, he prefers to fight defensively preferring to hold a position of strength rather than risk things on an offensive assault. For this reason, he is usually left in charge of the celestial defenses while Rohkea is tasked with leading her armies.

Morality & Philosophy

Loyalty first and foremost is Kello’s belief. As an angel he swore an oath to Utu and he still sees that oath as binding now that he is a deity in his own right. In addition to loyalty he also believes in honor, trustworthiness, obedience to authority, and reliability. Kello respects life and believes there is no greater duty or higher calling than protecting the lives of innocents and those who are too venerable to protect themselves. He will gladly risk life and limb in defending whoever or whatever he has vowed to protect. He finds his honor, valor, and glory in defense rather than in taking the battle to others. On the downside he can be a little close-minded, and his strict adherence to his code of honor has allowed others to take advantage of him, but never more than once.

Personality Characteristics

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Kello is extremely perceptive and alert. It is almost impossible to surprise him or sneak past him, and he has an uncanny ability to see through disguises and deception. However, he can be very literal and can sometimes be deceived by telling him the literal truth.

Likes & Dislikes

Kello likes honesty and strongly dislikes dishonesty. He seems to enjoy doing his job which is guarding the celestial realms.

Virtues & Personality perks

Kello is alert and attentive to detail. He is completely loyal and a skilled warrior. In addition he is acutely perceptive.

Vices & Personality flaws

Kello’s flaw is that he can be very literal. He performs his duties exactly as he is instructed and keeps to the letter of the law in all things. This makes him a bit inflexible.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Kello is on good terms with Bahamut and Vaalea. He is close friends with Laki, and is wholly loyal to Utu. He gets along well with Azu, Dayyanum, Emku, Mudutu, and Voimakas. He has a friendly rivalry with Rohkea. He dislikes Sanoma for his flippant nature and the pranks he plays. He is enemies with Asbu and Demogorgon and has a special enmity for Azag. However, his enmity for Ukkonen is legendary, and it is believed that in the final battle the two will kill each other.

Social Aptitude

Kello is actually quite charismatic, however his tendency to be dogmatic and literal can grate on people. Though few who meet him notice this as he is introverted and very laconic, speaking only when necessary and trying to get his point across in as few words as possible. That said he is extremely polite his dogmatism stretching to include matters of etiquette.

Mannerisms

As stated Kello is very laconic expressing himself in as few words as possible, and only speaking when he needs to. Kello also is not very expressive physically tending to stand like a statue and rarely gesturing to emphasize his words.
