Volga, Demi-Goddess of Orcish Wisdom, Knowledge, and Agriculture

Volga, was a simple farmer and druid living in the Old Vell Orcs settlement across the Great River from City of Vell.   When the refugee camps, from The Great Orc Wars in the North, began to camp on the rivers bank she became alarmed. When they began to encroach on her beet fields she became angry. Every day she would spend much of her day walking halfway across Vell to the office of the land registrars, where she would wait in line patiently to again state her clear, legal, and well documented claim to her own lands, and request the assistance of Vellish authorities. Each session ended with no promises just more paperwork that must be filled out.   Then she was brought into contact with a group of renegades, who were lead by a young ex-Paladin:  Rolen. This company had been fully ensnared in the legal morass of Vell, and were now outlawed. Soon, through no actions of her own Volga was as well. This group took up a position as the champions of the refugees, Volga acquiesced hoping that kindness might get them out of her fields where the law had failed.   Under the protection of Rolen's party Overwater became the newest unofficial district of the City of Vell. During this time of growth, including the opening of the The Admiral Benbow Inn, there was a discovery on Volga's farm that was to change everything.   The faithful old half-Orc, Barana, who had worked for her parents before she took over the farm came bearing strange news. A stone building had been found buried on the farm. It was discovered when they were trying to dig a new well. That building was the Temple of Aklana: the Orc Goddess of Wisdom and Nature, and had been built by one of the wisest Druids to ever rise from the Orcs here before the coming of The Vell .   Rolen's party had become a major force of commerce and organized crime in Vell, and now backed by these resources and the true knowledge of the history of Vell, she set out to win her claim.   Prior to that the party had unfinished business with the Sir Itaurus, a shadowy figure that was head of the Warlocks of the Great Old Ones in Vell. He who made Warlocks less safe than the PALADINS and Monks of Vell of Vell if they dared to pact with someone other than the Great Old Ones. His paths had crossed the party because in their company was a young Warlock outside of his control, and the party was growing in power which he also detested.   They tracked him to his tower keep West of Vell on the The Great Plain. There in a massive battle with much brawn and magic on both sides the valiant Volga fell in Sir Itarus' final gambit that left the entire party unconscious. She was never to awake.   The remaining party members went on to many great adventures, and terrible deeds. Rolen was one of the major actors on the stage that was the Wars of Chaos. First leading Elvish forces, then after being betrayed he joined the Giants forces, and was the Elf on the other side. It was Rolen who lead the siege of Vell, and whose forces rushed into the city on the day the walls fell. In one of his first acts after the fall was to recognize his faithful lost companion, by restoring the Temple of Aklana, and placing a statue of Volga outside it's door in a beet field.   Today 50 years after that day she has become a Demi-Goddess, being worshiped for her wise and peaceful ways. Shrines to her can be found throughout the area surrounding Vell, where she is worshiped regularly.
