Arcanalia

Magic is real, substance, matter, ether, life, ALL. The magics coalesce uneasily creating eruptions and barriers where they meet. Some even cause fissures, and from these fissures magic pours fourth. In this confluence of magics things begin to form.   First there are fires, waters, winds, solids intertwining. Fighting and shaping each other. This first great wave of magic finally settles into a sphere of fire surrounded by solids, with some waters on the surface, and an expanse of airs above. But, a world riven with gates from which magic flowed, each stream from one of the planes of magic that surround the world. This magic brought and altered life. It would also be harnessed by the inhabitants of the Arcanalia, and used for both destruction and creation.   As the heat of creation cools the magic brings forth plants, animals, and lower beasts of magic. Finally the first races comes forth. In the air the great behemoths on their wings scouring over the surface of Arcanalia. On Land the tall and swarthy, called by later lesser beings Giants. Cloud, Storm, Ice, Fire, Stone, and Hill they all find their place on Arcanalia. Below the Surface the two opposing forces of Law and Chaos the Devils and Demons formed and started their unending war. In the depths the great Krakens and Whales vied for the best areas to feed.   These races slowly formed into two distinct groupings Dragons, Devils, and Whales trying hard to force their vision on the freedom sought by the Giants, Demons, and Krakken to live in peace. The ensuing war raged for ages. From the fiery depths below mountains and volcanoes rose and fell as the tides of battle turned. Bays, gulfs, islands all came and went as forces maneuvered on the surface.   In time the first races, being tired of the war, and the destruction they laid out found they could build and create with the magic they found and used. The first to discover this were the Hill Giants. Tired of working endlessly to feed their never-ending hunger they created the Orcs to gather food for them. And on and on the first races created helper races to ease their struggle and carry on the war............................................
