Raneda Character in Aquila Palaxis | World Anvil

Raneda (rah-NEH-duh)

Imperatrix Raneda , The 1st

Emerging nearly 2 centuries ago from the freshly reactivated Geneforge Prime, the creature calling herself Raneda took the world in an iron-clad grasp, recasting dies, and reshaping infrastructure in ways that, on paper, would be beneficial. Many people lost their livelihoods in the shakeup, though most would see reparations payed before long.
There isn't much known about the personal history of Raneda, but there is speculation that she is some kind of supervillain masquerading as a beneficial ruler. Not helping her case is Raneda's predisposition towards being antisocial.
Physically, though, she strikes a distinct appearance, in that she's much shorter than the average Ranedian. Her force of personality, it's said, more than makes up for this drawback.
Early into her reign, she sought aid from the wider galaxy, given Ranedus's dwindling resources; Takuvia and Ilir Vortus provide with few strings; Sulotania agrees as well, but ends up chronically short-changing her people, putting her at odds with the leadership of the world.

The seer through the veil
A Different Set of Foes

In the Carina Lapotis timeline, Raneda reached out into the galaxy at large, seeking resources from other civilizations. Takuvia and Ilir Vortus, and Sulotania provide with thankfully few strings attached. Ambracia, however, proved to be the problem, and after countless pleas with the people of Ambracia for resource exchanges, encourages Federation intervention. The UGF uncovers dark experiments conducted on 'volunteers' of their own people, and proceeds to wipe out the Empire's leadership. Raneda is given a modest finder's fee, and permission to establish a colony where once the seat of their empire stood.
