Grandmaster
A grandmaster is the best of all the masters in his chosen field. He oversees the others in their work, how they are teaching and training his underlings. If judgment needs to be passed on a master that breaks the rules, he brings the case to the Guildmaster if it is serious enough. If it is a petty crime he deals with this himself.
He is still able to run his own shop, but usually is retired from this work and only acts as an advisor and teacher to other masters. In some smaller guilds, a grandmaster is in charge of the guild, but in larger ones, there is either a council of grandmasters or a guildmaster.
Qualifications
The ability to rule over others, settle disputes, and perform his other duties as required.
Requirements
Passing his master test and proving to the other Master and the Guildmaster that he is better than the other masters of his craft.
Appointment
The other masters and grandmaster vote on his appointment and the Guildmaster ratify it.
Benefits
The other masters pay him a quarterly "retainer" that they claim is his due for upholding the honor of the guild and "advertising" about their skills to drum up business.
Accoutrements & Equipment
His uniform can be anything that he chooses, as long as it has the badge of his craft as well as the guilds. Some grandmasters like flaunting their rank, while others are more humble about their position.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Their are only a few reasons for one to be dismissed from the guild. Being a traitor to the guild and its secrets.
