Airship, Large

Written by Pookas Kreations

This exotic and expensive vehicle is held aloft by a massive balloon connected by chain or rope to a ship that hangs below. This ship is similar to a sailing vessel, complete with an open top, and is propelled by an easily controlled magical engine. Passengers and cargo are carried in the ship.   Airships come in various designs. They can be just a platform, a framework, a ship, or anything else the builder desires. Ships in the Skylands Continent don't actually need the balloon for lift, but it is helpful for stability. The special qualities of the skies of Aquatica allow vessels to fly the tradewinds where they will. It's easiest to travel to islands on the same plane than on ones above or below, for this Gravity Stones and thrusters, sails or fans are needed.   Large airships are the 3rd smallest in size, only gargantuan and colossal are larger. Many airships are this size, it is the most common size of an airship that is commissioned by those with money.

Power Generation

Propulsion

Airships can move with sails by the wind, repulsor thrusters, fans, etc.

Weapons & Armament

This all depends on the builder, they are mostly magitech weapons, but if those can't be afforded normal weapons will be used.

Armor and defense

Veil Forcefields are often used, the airships are usually made of Lightwood which can be reinforced by magic.

Communication Tools & Systems

Many have radios, but other options can be installed.

Sensors

Radar is usually installed.

Hangars & docked vessels

The larger ships often have hanger bays installed for lifeboats, or away boats, this is also where cargo is usually loaded into the hold.
