Duc / Ducessa (DUKE / dew-KESSER)

Ducs and ducessas are the governors of duchies in Caraegwyn. Duchies are the largest municipalities of the kingdom, each of them further divided into smaller fiefdoms caller arlings. The duc or ducessa swears fealty directly to the monarch. Arls and arlessas in turn swear fealty to the duc or ducessa.
Duchies are often referred to as provinces.
The five duchies of the Summer Kingdom are Norgales, Logres, Mercia, Estregales and Westregales.
