Lord Commander

The Lord Commander is the highest ranking member of the Gryphites and the leader of that prestigious military order.
The Lord Commander is appointed by the monarch of the Summer Kingdom from amongst the order's ranks -- usually from amongst the four Bastion Commanders, the second highest rank of the Gryphites. The Lord Commander answers only to the monarch, not even the High Constable and High Admiral having the authority over him.
The lord commander is the highest authority in all affairs of the Gryphites, but most importantly they appoint the four bastion commanders that are in charge of the four Gryphite Companies. The lord commander is also free to organize and reassign the units and personnel from one company to another. Besides such internal matters, the lord commander is also the public face of the organization and its representative in the politics of the Summer Kingdom.
