Grenntok Jungle

Grenntok is a vibrant jungle filled to the brim with life. Trees grow tall and large, and their roots are no exception. Animals and people utilize the enormous plant life as homes, feeding off the lush foods provided as well. The jungle is divided by into east and west by the Grennkrys River.   Not every inch of this jungle is as hospitable as the northern bit. The trees grow far more twisted and mangled, and the sunlight fades as Grenntok transitions to Muurtok at the southern tip of Gulgrennjor.

Geography

The jungle covers the southern portion of Gulgrennjor, suddenly starting from the Solhav Grasslands and ending where Muurtok Jungle begins to take over. The wide and gentle Grennkrys River cuts the jungle from top to bottom into eastern and western halves.   The thick roots of the trees make traveling difficult. Locals instead use bridges and branches to traverse through the area, using much of the natural vines and shape of the trees as they naturally occur. Creatures will also utilize these pathways, though it doesn't guarantee that prey will avoid their predators.   Though many people reside in the jungle in small unnamed communities, Grenntok Jungle is home to two major cities. Sky Bridge takes advantage of the fish and running water that the Grennkrys River provides. Sun's Reach situates itself in the western half of the jungle, high in canopy out of the reach of Muurtok Jungle's creeping darkness.

Fauna & Flora

The jungle is home to an immeasurable variety of plants and animals. The jungle floor is home to larger creatures, both prey and hunter. Wide-petal flowers compete for space at the base of trees, sporting a variety of colors to attract insects. Moss and lichen grow thick on exposed roots and travel up the massive trunks of trees.   Trees grow tall—well over 200 feet—and their thick branches stretch out far, often entwining with another tree's. This mass allows birds and small creatures to make their homes up away from the ground prowlers. Flowered and fruited vines provide easy food, and transportation.   For as long as locals can remember, hybrid plant beasts have roamed the jungle. Being composed of less flesh marks these creatures as targets for herbivores and carnivores alike. Though not uncommon, locals still avoid these creatures out of superstition.

Natural Resources

The jungle is rich with food and wood. Builders and craftsmen alike covet the soft and colorful wood harvested from Grenntok. Many independent lumberers harvest wood for trade, however, they struggle to compete against the main logging camps; Amber Bark and Cross Bark. This—often colorful—lumber is exported with the assistance of the Himmelafs and their skyships.

Location under
One mustn't forget to witness the Mist Glen, despite the dangers. The most exquisite flowers blossom under the moonlight there—and only there. And as one approaches, there is the sensation of every vine-elk—every boggle, every molder monkey—watching to see what one will do.

This article feels informative. If I were a character in your world, I feel like I'd be able to navigate the jungle to a degree, at least by checking the landmarks and my position relative to them. One concern I have is that the article feels like it's lacking a bit of flavor, somehow. A quick way to add color to an otherwise information-heavy article is to bring in reactions from characters and seemingly unrelated pieces of information that could serve as plot hooks. A good rumor perks ears up.   Looking forward to seeing your progress! Keep going!

Hmmm, I'll definitely have to think of more potential plot hooks. I'm sure something will come to mind as I end up fleshing out the other articles for places and animals within the jungle. Thank you!

A very informative and well-written article. I like the detail you used to describe this area and its inhabitants. It seems reminiscent of a real-world jungle or rainforest, but is different enough to give it that fantasy feeling. I can't wait to read more of your world!

Detailed enough for a lay of the land, but vague enough so someone would have to explore it. Why haven't people tried to eat the plant-animal creatures? Could there be a village that does? Do this hybrids exist because of magic? Lack of food on the forest floor? What do the people of Sun Reach eat besides fruit and birds? Do they go down to the forest floor?   What is a modder monkey and boggle??

There are definitely answers to most of those questions! But I'm trying to conceal as I write the initial information since I plan to use this world for a campaign. I'm thinking I'll add a section at the bottom for "Newly Discovered Information". Or potentially start appending items once the players discover more about the world. I'm open to ideas on how to handle that.   You gave me some more to chew on. Thank you!
