Geography

Originally part of the mainland during the time of King Gradlon I, the sea has chipped away, leaving a group of nine granite islands and many rocks and islets across a vast stretch of water. It was said to be the farthest southern point of the legendary Kingdom of Kernev, and is all that remains above water of old Ys. The ruins of a few farms and fishermen's houses scatter the islands. An abandoned abbey sits on one of the islands, having fallen to viking raiders. Older megaliths are built on the island as a cavalry, and are still held in popular tradition to be a Cavalry of Ys-Beneath-the-Waves. Points of Interest: Fort Seizkogn AKA: The Useless Fort. A fort built on one of the islands for the express purpose of denying pirates a port, a task it failed miserably at, often becoming a haven for pirates itself. Long since abandoned after constant attacks by The Marie-Morgaine, the inhabitants of the fort vanishing from the island.

Fauna & Flora

Seabirds make the islands their home, such as terns and gulls. Brinlivic, the Island of the Black Ravens, is home to a murder of corvids. The Groac'h of Loc'h Island - Legend tells of a malevolent fairy witch with elemental powers who resides on one of the islands, transforming men into fish to serve as meals to her guests. Other stories have her lavishing gifts on those who seek her out.

Natural Resources

The sheltered archipelago is a popular haven for pirates and privateers to harass shipping along the southern Ar Mor. This is not without its own risks, as the Marie-Morgaine fiercely control this territory, having recruited entire crews to their numbers and leaving the rest to drown on the rocks. Ships frequently crash on the rocks, the wrecked loot hotly contested by mortal wreckers and the Marie-Morgaine.
