Mechanical Limbs
Be honest: would you rather get hit with a normal, squishy, fleshy punch? Or would you rather get hit with ten pounds of pure heavy metal? I thought so.Mechanical libs are an advancement made in regard to normal prosthetic limbs used in assisting those with physical disabilities, abnormalities, or simple lost limbs. While the process can prove to be painful initially, many find the dexterity of their new limbs to be surprising, often not expecting just how normal it can feel to have one. And while they were initially created with light materials to serve as replacements for lost limbs, some amputees have found that using heavier materials would aid them in unarmed combat.
Also of worthy note: the demon hunter known as Emeilya, the to fell The Colossus of Alore, is an excellent example of the effectiveness of mechanical limbs, as she was unfortunate enough to have lost both her arms and legs to that fiend. Even still, she would go on to do something most had thought impossible in permanently culling one of the Natural Tyrants.
Utility
Mechanical limbs are almost universally used to provide those with physical disabilities a means to live and operate proper, functional lives. It was entirely created to serve that very purpose. However, there are examples - mostly throughout Tyrralore - of the nerve connections put in place to operate mechanical limbs being used to punish particularly nasty criminals.
For instance, in Vaikous up until the reunification of Tyrralore towards the end of the Second Era, all manner of heinous crimes were punished in an extremely violent manner. Their arms and legs would be removed and nerve connectors would be installed at the shoulders and pelvis. From there, they would be placed into a Gallantry-esc mech-shell, and made to fight in their mobile prison in an arena type setting. This, alongside other varieties of reasons, is what eventually pushed one Regulus Vaikyn to rebel and gather an attempt at revolution, which would eventually lead to the reunification of Tyrralore, and the end of these arena battles.

Access & Availability
This technology is available throughout the majority of the world, though it was notably banned from use in the magical world for the entirety of the First and Second Eras. Those who possessed these forms of limbs were prohibited from even entering such places without proper documentation of themselves and their purpose for bringing such technology within the bounds of their country. As such, for the most part, mechanical limbs only existed primarily in Tyrralore and the areas of the world immediately around it.
