Dwarves of Plash (PLASH)

Plashkyn Keph

The Dwarves of Plash are Waten Dwarf dwelling in the southwestern region of the Plashin Range of Novyum, on the major continent of Ethae. Plashkyn is a vice kingdom of the Kephic Empire. The Empire had long wanted to expand into the Plashins through the ages, but for one reason or another they never found success. That is until Clan Ironwall established a foothold in the mountains during the Lakorthian Age. The Empire has declined over the centuries, often leaving Clan Ironwall and the Plashkyn dwarves isolated with little to no support. That has not diminished the resolve of the Plashkyn, who see themselves as Kephic citizens through and through. Even if the Empire someday vanishes from the Cutting Mountains, there will still be Keph in Ironwall Castle.

These dwarves are a practical people. While other dwarven nations may live separate from the other races of Ethae, the Dwarves of Plash remember the old tales of the Kephic Empire working and trading with mankind. Plashkyn is on friendly trade terms with the surrounding nations. Dwaven traders out of Ironwall Castle travel down their mountain as far away as Haithfia and can often be seen in the four cities of Lechlan. Some of their deepest mines travel as far as Oate Mountain, where they have territorial mining agreements with the Kingdom of Oates. The village of Ironwall Castle has a generational population of Axa dwelling within and even the reclusive Plasha people of the mountains make occasional visits to Ironwall for trade. The Novyum Civil War continues to rage around them, but the Plashkyn, right it the middle of it all have known a century of peace, in their bubble of protection, surrounded by their allied human nations, and their remote location.

Plashkyn dwarves have a lighter demeanor than some of their more stoic kin. The valleys of Plashkyn are covered in wildflowers in the spring and summer, cultivated by the dwarves. The valley around Ironwall Castle often fill with tents of travelers who come for the many festivals of the dwarves. Of course, only the wealthiest can afford such journeys, but that suits the dwarves just fine, as these festivals are largely seem as an opportunity to sell their famous Iron Brew mead. A popular drink at these festivals and sold to merchants for the inns and taverns of Novyum.

Leather and thick wool are uses in their fashion. Yellows and oranges, the color of honey, is the favored style. Though they have known a century of peace in their kingdom, the Plashkyn citizens have a long history of fighting the Orc of the mountains. While most consider the orc and other monsters of the Plashin extinct, the dwarves of a cautious people. Both sexes wear some amount of armor when journeying out of Ironwall Castle. Women, who are seen as more culturally valuable because they can give birth, are expected to wear full protection. Plashkyn tradition holds a father to craft his daughters first mail shirt when she comes of age to be considered a woman.

The dwarves of Plash have a common Waten Dwarf appearance. The men and women tend to stand at a similar height. Red and brown hair are the most common. However, the dwarves of the Ironwall bloodline have predominantly black hair. Women traditionally grow their hair out from birth, never cutting it. Men commonly shave their heads, leaving a patch in back to grow without cutting it. Eye colors range through most the natural colors. Green and blue appear rather often in both sexes.
