Ironwall Castle

Tis'afon Feartha

Ironwall Castle, known to the enhabitants as Tis'afon Feartha, is a Dwarf fortress hidden in the southwestern Plashin Range of Novyum, on the major continent of Ethae. Home to the Dwarves of Plash, the castle stands at the peak of a large rock formation in a valley where the Whidel's Wall mountains push up against the Plashins. The foundations of the castle were laid in the Lakorthian Age, at the height of the Republic of Lakorth. Over the centuries, the dwarves have expanded their castle around their original tower, building with Slava designs and later with inspiration from architecture of castles for the Heartlands. This variety, along with the tight space on the rock peak gives the castle an appearance of buildings from all over the north being piled atop one another. Ironwall Castle is the capital of the dwarven vice kingdom of Plashkyn.

At its base is a small town, considered part of the castle, that is home to Human of Axa descent that live among the dwarves. Though not considered citizens of Plashkyn, the Axa dwelling at Ironwall are treated well by the dwarves and paid good wages for their various work among them. Many of these humans have lived in Plashkyn for generations.

At the heart of Ironwall Castle is the ancient dwarven tower that extends at least two hundred feet above the rock peak. Originally built with forges, chimneys, and furnaces within, the structure now houses, what the dwarves claim is, a thousand bee hives. These bees are responsible for making the honey for the famous Iron Brew mead. The Plashkyn ensure the tower remains warm and habitable for the bees, even in the harshest winter storms. They and the Axa work through the spring and summer months, making sure their valleys mountain flowers stay in blossum for the bees. Those that travel to Plashkyn claim the best time to go is in late spring with the entire kingdom is awash in color for the wildflowers.
