Slava Novya

The Axa are native Human of Axia Valley in western Slavyum. If these lowlands east of the Plashin Range is named after the people, or the people after the land is irrelevant, the two are deeply connected. Axa culture of the modern day began with the Republic of Lakorth expansion into Slavyum, with the valley being one of Lakorth's earliest landholdings east of the Plashins. The native Slava embraced the Republic and have remained connected to the Heartlands of Novyum ever since.

Axa are closely tied to the Haitha people as the two people were one culture before, and during the reign of the Republic. Branching off over the centuries after the Republics decline.

The Axa and the Dwarves of Plash have a long and strong history of cooperation. Many Axa have lived in the dwarf kingdom of Plashkyn, north of Axia Valley for generations. The dwarves are one of the largest buyers of Axa grains. It is not uncommon to see a dwarf in one of the Axa towns throughout the land. Like the Axa, some of theses dwarves have settled into life in the valley. Others are traveling merchants selling and buying goods for their kingdom.

Their deep connections with the Heartlands has seen heavy settling by Novya over the ages, and intermarriage between the cultures. Ask any Slava today and they will tell you the Axa are westerners that have settled their lands. Ask a Novya and they will say the Axa are Slava that have embraced the civilized west. The Axa are something in-between. A culture that is both west and east, Slavya and Novya.

Despite living in a land that is called cursed because of the many battles and bloodshed in its history, the Axa are a peaceful people. Their culture revolves around small farming communities scattered through their lands. Travelers are a common sight in the land, as Axia Valley is one the major trade routes across Novyum's east and west. The people are welcoming to these travelers, with most towns having at least one inn dedicated to this. Adventurers are common in these inns, knowing the Axa pay well for keeping their lands free of monsters.

Axa, despite being Slavya, are often mistaken for being Novya stock. Their fair features and light hair coming from generations of inner marriages between the two normon peoples. Blonde is as common here as it is in the Heartlands. Hair is worn long and loose by both genders. Clothing is simple and productive in nature, often of earthy colors.

Alignment: The Axa are a peaceful farming people that generally want to stay out of the politics around them. This leads the to a more neutral alignment.

Age: A hardy people outdoors kind of people, with a relatively stable environment, the Axa live a long natural life, often reaching the age of 100 to 110 years.

Size: (Medium) Axa men and women are average height for humans, averaging between 5 to 6 feet. The women are usually on the shorter side, while the men tend to be taller.

Language: Axa, deeply rooted to Novyum and the west, speak the Common Tongue.
