Hol Gheal Disaster

The Hol Gheal Disaster was a series of military and political decisions which led to the destruction of Glas Gheal and the flooding of the coastal valley towns. During this time, Hol Gheal and its surrounding territory was almost reconquered by the Dolomedes. The Arakhne peoples became an increasingly dominant population in the Deornet Valley after that.

The Conflict

Prelude

After the Battle of Deorcan Station in 798, the Dolomedes had settled in Hol Gheal. The majority population and ruling powers were all Belanos however, which led to tensions throughout the valley.   By 805, the increase in population had caused a food shortage and many of the peasant and farming populations were fighting over shared land. Legend has it that it was then Harlow prayed to her ancestor Old Nick to help her save the towns.

Regardless of what happened, Harlow razed some of the forest at the head of the valley allowing them to move further inward. The soil was of low quality however, and another poor harvest and food shortage had the farmers banding together again. At the threat of a revolt Harlow had her son Ernoul order some soil to be shipped from Blaec Gheal. The soil arrived in 809.

Deployment

Oswald manages to unite the Clockmakers under their dislike and suspicions of Harlow's family. With this he has both his Dolomedes army and the Clockmakers, after chasing head clockmaker Gisla out of Hol Gheal.
