Skombans

Skombic: Skombóo /skɔmpouːɔ/
Rómúkan: Skombóol /skɔmpouːɔːl/
The skombans1 once were one of the largest Hapalic-speaking tribes that inhabited western and northern Gysikan prior to the Lerdíkans and Nússans migrating to the region a millennia ago, and their language and culture has since been supplanted by that of the ruling lerdíkans. Related to the Rómúkans, their traditional territory was the region around modern Darhela, capital of Lerdis, while the latter inhabited the hills to the south before being pushed to their current home by the invaders.
They mostly subsisted on herding goats and sheep, the latter which were descended from ones stolen from the dwarven Katargysians in the region, as well as hunting and fishing.

Religion

Like most hapalian descendants, the skombans originally worshipped a moon goddess, known to them as Þi, as well as the divine raven Kols, whom they believed to have taught them the art of using Magic Crystals acquired from the edge of Goldensands to the west. While raven imagery is still common among skomban descendants, the old ways have otherwise been replaced by the worship of the storm god Láris.

Warfare

Skombans were one of the first gysikani hapalians to adopt horseback riding, and are said to have later passed their skills on to the rómúkans. Archery, both on foot and horseback, was important to them as well, using all sorts of different arrowheads, including ones fashioned from magic crystals.
