Skeziran

Sikíronian: Skeziran /scɛːzɪraːn/
Skeziran (sikíronska)

Skeziran is the largest of the Azókan Islands, a small archipelago located in the southwestern Central Sea ruled by the Sikíron Empire. Its main settlement, Fargútína, is the provincial capital of Azókan which covers the entire archipelago.
The population is made up mostly of native Azókani and Sikíronians from the mainland, the latter which are mostly found in the Fargútína and other coastal settlements.

Geography

The island is widest to the south while the northern part forms a long strip of land pointing northeast towards Úrra, the second largest isle, and has sometimes been compared to a long fang because of this. Sikíronians from the mainland believe that Skeziran was created when a fang of the primordial serpent snapped off and fell into the sea during its struggle with the primordial bird, which happened at the dawn of time and shaped the land into its current form.
The natives have their own creation myth explaining the island's shape, the most common which being that it was formed in the image of Eltizes, a war god often depicted as a shark.
The Þeifós Mountains dominate the southern and central parts of the island, while the northern part is characterized by rolling hills. Sandy beaches are common, but the only adequate natural harbour is found to the southeast, where Fargútína is located.
Few rivers are found on Skeziran, the largest of which is Tös to the east, but a number of small lakes and springs dot the island, many of which are regarded as sacred by the inhabitants.

Fauna & Flora

Most of the wildlife of Skeziran is similar to that on the rest of the archipelago, with notable animals including ibexes, polecats and genets, monkeys, foxes, bats and, in the surrounding sea, seals, dolphins, sea snails (including ones used to make purple dye) and a variety of fish. Dholes and deer, once found throughout the island, were hunted to extinction when the Azókan Islands were ruled by the Paþarían Empire.
Olive trees, mint, saffron all grow wild on Skeziran as on most of the other islands. Mixed forests are found at higher altitudes, while fields, olive groves and pastures dominate the lowlands.
