Gild-Town

One of the larger residential districts, much like South Narrows, in Geata-Iarainn, the and the most populated of the three in the Caverns Quarter. Gild-Town is, other than being entirely subterranean, a very typical middle class region of a city, with flats, townhouses, and fine small subdivision like neighborhoods, family homes all around. The district has all the amenities one would need to raise a family entirely localized, and offers easy access to government services, a wide variety of job opportunities and being basically central to Geata-Iarainn's structure both vertically and horizontally, has the shortest distances to travel as an average aggregate to reach any other part of the city. Despite all these benefits, it is not the most populated part of Geata-Iarainn, nor is it even the second most populous. It is third, behind South Narrows and Railside respectfully. One will find all the services and comforts of a big city available here however, from a wide variety of shops and markets to at least a half a dozen eateries and taphouses. Noted here are merely some of the most well known or highly recommended places to visit as well as notable landmarks.

Temple of Nine Lights

This large church and its surrounding complex, as with most every church in Geata-Iarainn naturally centers around the worship of Sir Kartheart, however smaller facilities dedicated to the worship and gospel studies of the other eight Ascended, the 'nine lights' the temple's name references, are housed here. This church also happens to act as a sort of community center, as well, often acting as a central location for everything community based; holiday cookouts or festivities to local district seat elections and everything in between. Furthermore, there is a large library, a seperate structure under the church's control and on their land, that they run via volunteers from the local community that is open and free use to the public.

Fabric and Colors Guildhall, Geata Chapter

This district happens to be home to a pair of dye manufacturing plants and a busy fabric distribution center, as well as most of the city's tailors and the like running businesses here. As such, it should come as no surprise the Dyers and Clothers Guild has a proper presence here, with a full chapter hall and guild facilities. Representing easily fifteen hundred workers, maybe more across the city, most of whom work within this very district, this is another notable guild with heavy economic and therefore political influence within the city.

Suranthi Treasury Services

This government facility includes a central bank, of sorts, of which smaller branches can be found across the city that can also be used. The magitech revolution has truly changed how fiscal matters are handled and has seen the birth and swift adaption of centralized banking practices in every nation across Valerick, and Suranth has been no exception. Their facilities are vast and notable as well, as is the regular military presence, two dozen Iron Dragons are always stationed here, acting as security and protection for the treasury itself.

Gild-Side Markets

The hustle and bustle of the surface without the bone biting cold, this market is heavily favored by locals and folks whom can find the time and fiscals to traverse here from other districts as well, especially in the winter. It is always busy, and there are a wide variety of permanent shops as well as vendors simply set up for the day in the market square daily. A large clock tower, a very new construction, marks the central plaza of the market district now, a marvelous construction that has been completed only weeks ago after a four year construction project, and it truly is the talk of the town, even weeks later. A tribute of sorts to Geata-Iarainn's resilience and impressive sort of interior self sufficience, each face depicts a different aspect of the city. The east face depicts a heritophal plantation, one of the mushroom types that is a stable crop for food out of the various types grown. The north face depicts the Shield of Suranth, referencing the faith of Storms, the love of the Stormlord. The west depicts a mine shaft with workers busily pulling valuable ore and minerals from the stone, and the south face depicts the sails of various merchant ships on the horizon as they might look from Mercantile Isles. These motifs are carried in the brickwork, done with creatively dyed stones and blocking, a beautiful structure built with typical Suranthi structural integrity, robust, strong, stable.

Ophelia's Odd and Outstanding Garments

The workshop and storefront of one Ophelia Jademoors, a very famous tailor and seamstress, perhaps the most famous and well reknowned across Suranth, and certainly in Geata-Iarainn. Her works are well known, as is the breadth of her talent, able to adapt to the budget and tastes of clientele up and down the socio-economic spectrum. She is beloved for this unique skill amongst all manner of individual, for though she charges top coin for her work, it is all relative to the price of material, and she will work with whatever materials one can afford, or needs, without any shame or distaste. From simple ghelmen slacks of sealskin to the beautiful gilded dresses of silk and lace for those few wealthy individuals whom play at southern life even in this tundra, she will adapt and work within all tastes and most any budget, so long as you can afford her time. They also happen to be the current sitting president of Geata's local Tailor and Laundress Guild chapter.

Suranthi Tailor and Laundress Guild Hall, Geata Chapter

Representing some four to five hundred individuals within Geata-Iarainn in total, counting laundry workers and seamstress workers as well as actual tailors and designers, they also of course as with all guilds, represent any such tradesfolk or workers in any town or village within a day or two's travel on foot, though the logistics of this are of course not perfect. This guild hall holds notable power in ways one wouldn't first expect, considering the ties to nobility and organizations like the Magisterium. After all, such folk do not handle their own garments and the cleaning of them, they hire such services out, they simply have much more important things on their mind. As such, this guild actually represents quite a vital service to many groups and organizations in Geata-Iarainn.

Mushroom Plantations

Gild-town, though it gets its name in part for the tailors guild, and in part for being mostly made up of residential housing of a middle to upper middle class nature, this is not its only feature, nor even its most noteworthy. The eastern cavern in particular particular happens to be home to a wide range of mushroom and fungi plantations that provide many useful crops, some medicinal, others food staples, others even for dyes. One variety is even grown as food, but also for the ichor it produces instead of spores, which is valued highly for its use as a quality water and moisture resilient adhesive.
