Doctor Quinn (a.k.a. Doc)

On the run from the The Coalition States for being too literate, "Doc" Quinn found her way to Rifthaven and settled here until she figured she would be forgotten for newer and more pressing threats. She became such a fixture in town that she decided to stay and make it her home.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

As fit and healthy as a normal human woman can be, she is full of energy and enjoys helping people.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Growing up in the 'burbs of Chi Town, Quinn was too smart and too curious for her own good. She ultimately suffered the same fate as others with similar traits, but we'll get to that.   When she was little, she would take stray animals home and bandage their wounds, mend broken wings, stitch torn ears and such. A Body-fixer on rotation in the 'burbs from Chi Town noticed her handiwork and arranged to have her start an apprenticeship in the clinic. As part of her apprenticeship she was taught how to read American and Technocan, and was given an old dog-eared copy of Gray's Anatomy to study.   With her eyes opened to the word of reading, she did not want to stop at just medical texts. After years of searching she finally tracked down the legendary Librarian at the The Upstart Lounge, which the (illiterate) people of the 'burbs called "the scribbled sign." By this time, Quinn had managed to get her hands on two novels and with them was able to buy access to the back rooms of the Upstart where she saw hundreds and hundreds of books. That was it. The potential. She was hooked.   She became a book addict, ensnared by Nancy Boyd to perform all manner of illegal deeds for access to just one more book.   One day, when she arrived at the clinic for her apprenticeship, she was warned by a coworker that the Coalition Police were there looking for her. She turned right around and that was the last anyone in the 'burbs had seen of her.     Quinn headed North with the goal of reaching the Republic of Ishpeming. She never made it out of the the Chaos Zone and has been the body-fixer in Rifthaven for the past several years.

Sexuality

Quinn is not currently involved with anyone, although she and Monx seem to have a very close platonic relationship with enough sexual tension to sense from across the room.

Failures & Embarrassments

When she first arrived in Rifthaven, that was the first time she had ever met a non-human DeeBee. She was scared, flustered and panicked. But eventually her curiosity got the better of her and she has since been eagerly anticipating meeting the next, even stranger beings she can mend and fix.   When the Zem arrived, she was utterly flabbergasted. It was all they could do to keep her from dissecting them on the spot. While they find her curiosity bit annoying, they respect her intelligence and treat her as an honorary member; more of a mascot really.

Intellectual Characteristics

Her intellect is up the task her insatiable curiosity sets for her. She is a genuine Xenophile.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

The Chi-Town police did not want to arrest her to punish her, they actually wanted to recruit her to become a fully licensed Body Fixer and citizen of Chi Town. Apparently the doctors under whom she apprenticed were impressed with her and pressed the immigration officials of the city to consider her for citizenship. The police were planning to use her illegal activities as leverage to force her decisions and ensure her loyal behavior.   She does not know any of this since she ran and never looked back.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Besides the town of Rifthaven, the Osawkee are also frequent customers of hers. She has learned much from their healers and shamans and turns to the tribe for rare herbs and even some high technology items they may come across. In return, she freely gives check ups and provides more technical health care when the tribe's more spiritual magic does not provide results.   When even Quinn's abilities and equipment can not provide the necessary medical care a patient needs, she will turn to the The Sheydor Enclave. The healing abilities of the Sheydor healers is unmatched outside of the state of the art medical centers found in metropolises like Chi Town.
