Phenada Empire (Fee-na-da)
The Phenada Empire is a collection of territories ruled by a sovereign and organized into provinces. It occupies a portion of south-west Amrynn, and the northern half of Odaesong.
Structure
The current Sovereign Lady of Phenon is Ravan Laurinya Phenon, inheritor of the empire from her father who was the previous Sovereign Lord and stepped down in 240 EU. Inheritance is determined by merit within the royal lineage, not by order of birth. Children of the Sovereign compete for favor and often rulers step down in their later years.
Under the ruling party are wealthy families in the Empire that have ties to the Sovereign. These families are referred to as houses and control province territories. While the houses do maintain control over provinces, they are subject to the will of the lower class and must coexist with any influential guilds.
Another influential party in the Phenada Empire is the Spellweaver Convocation: an organization founded by the current Sovereign Lady that funds the research of royal mages. These mages are appointed by a combination of merit and lineage, with individuals from houses given preference.
Culture
The Sovereign house has always been half-elf; a mixture of Fey Eladrin and Elven. Because of this, a majority of other houses are also of Elven lineage.
The Phenada Empire's population is predominantly half-elf, but elves, humans, dragonborn, and halflings are also exceedingly common.
History
The Phenada Empire began as the state of Phenon within the now-dissolved Venzumin Empire. After the Great Rending, Venzumin's power was greatly diminished and civil unrest was rampant, partly because of how the elven emperor handled the post-Rending chaos. Phenon rose up from its position as a duchy state, and the Phenon noble family from their position as inferior to the royal family. Ensys Hwestven Phenon, father of the current Sovereign Lady, was in power during this upheaval.
Both the Republic of Idris, which split from Venzumin prior, and the Urgus Clans helped in this revolution. Since then, the relationship between the Phenada Empire and its neighbors has been amiable but slightly tense.
Territories
Phenon is the largest of this league of provinces and the seat of aristocracy, located at the core of the empire in Amrynn. Other provinces include Öchste, Emneid, Tānt, and Maure Etra.
Agriculture & Industry
The land is relatively poor in mineral resources, predominantly xeric shrubland and temperate steppe in nature. However, the soil is rich and there are many areas favorable for agriculture.
Mythology & Lore
Most individuals of the ruling houses worship Zivilyn, the god of wisdom, enlightenment, and insight, including the Sovereign house. However, the worship of other good-aligned deities is not discouraged.
