Stormwind City Sentry

'Honest work for honest pay.'
'His Majesty’s Cudgel, at your service. What’s the problem, then? Come on, spit it out.'
'Careful, that be Sergeant Smith, he'll flay you alive for stealing an apple! RUN!'
'Just keep your nose clean and you’ll do well. With the war over - Light, what’s there to worry about? We’re sitting pretty, chasing two-bit crooks for our bread and wine until we’re old and done. The simple life, eh.'
The Third City Sentry Company, known informally as 'His Majesty's Cudgel' or sometimes even shortened to 'King's Cudgel', is a section of sentrymen and patrollers usually based in the city of Stormwind and the surrounding farmland, woodland, and terrain. They're known to be vigilant and stalwart, willing to run across the kingdom to see a crook behind the bars of the Stockades, furthermore they've known to have been deployed further than Stormwind as of recent due to shortages in the military, the most notable of these places being the Swamp of Sorrows, Stranglethorn, and Northrend.

History

The Founding

Formed sometime after the fourth war by Sir Jespyr Elmont (A commander of the Alliance) as a new sentry company inside the Kingdom of Stormwind; also be chaired and led by Commander Jespyr. Its pool of sentrymen being made up of veterans of the recent wars of Azeroth, but also the young willing recruit, seeking to make a living out of himself rather than turning to the shady underworld of crime. Soon after the formation of the sentrymen, Sergeant Dryden, a veteran of the streets of Stormwind and a veteran of recent wars was promoted to lead 'His Majesty's Cudgel' on the field of battle, and soon enough they would be deployed into the jungle of Stranglethorn.   A few months ago swathe of undead trolls threatened the safety of the Kingdom of Stormwind, and a brigade of soldiers, including the 'Concordat', marched into the jungle where many dangers lie in wait, including the Loyalists of the Banshee Queen, the vicious Horde, and the threat itself, trolls. The Alliance and Horde for the most part worked together, although several skirmishes broke out between the two forces, most notably involved was the Concordat. Eventually, however, they had a breakthrough within the Gurubashi City of Zul'Gurub and slew the threat of a twisted and foul loa.   Not long after however, they faced another threat. The frozen ice of Northrend. Deployed northbound by Sir Jespyr Elmost and a junior officer, Sir Colin Pendoogle, the Third soon found themselves outmatched, however, they soon formed a strong bond with a group of Kul Tirans, they battled the loyalist threat and even fought off an undead remnant of the Scarlet Crusade. Soon enough, they returned home, suffering only one casualty.   Upon returning home, the Third found themselves dealing with an ever-increasing Defias threat, in which they'd already killed a Corporal of the King's Cudgel. Ralph O'Toole.

A New Age for the King’s Cudgel

Much has happened since the Gloomspire Incident, the Third going through many assignments.
  • The Incursions within Kul Tiras.
  • Issues within Stranglethorn
  • The chaos caused by the Defias
  • Heretics within Duskwood
  • The Battle for Bael Modan
  • Treason within the Company
  • Stonetalon Treaty Issues
  • Loyalists in Gilneas
  • Scarlet Madness in Stormwind
  • Safeguarding of the North
Times change and the Third City Sentry Company has certainly changed with them. Transitions of Leadership are never easy and it is still somewhat of a mystery what kind of a military order the Third is going to be. Knight-Captain Dryden holding onto his position as a commanding officer at the Third for the time being, while Corporals and Sergeant who have served under him are recently being replaced at an unusual rate. The future of the company may seem a bit uncertain at the moment, though the brave men and women of the Alliance serving within it have never had more potential in doing their kingdom justice.

Notable Members

  • Sergeant Axl Renfield. A soldier from Gilneas whose loyalty to the Alliance runs deep. The veteran is a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield where he is as steadfast as he is stubborn, often refusing to accept defeat even when gravely injured. Outside of battle, he is a resolute guardsman that despite maintaining order with an iron fist tends to ask questions first and act later, always seeking to exact justice with precise strikes.
  • Corporal Felicia Dawson. Felicia is a young Soldier from Lordaeron, her natural talent with the bow appeared at a young age, she has become a deadly force upon any battlefield, be it at long or close range. Standing firmly behind her comrades as she seeks to help them achieve victory no matter the situation.

Past Notable Members

  • Sergeant Daniel Brock - The Light guides his path, each and every one of his steps carefully knitted by the Light’s divine will… or so he believes. Daniel has seen the direst of injuries and conquered the least appealing battlefields. Do not bring heresy near him, for he is ready to smite it down with the Light should its will demand it. He has been presumed dead after a Mak'gora with Stone Guard Gruggosh of the Horde which left one of the mountains within the Barrens in ashes, nothing but his and Gruggosh's damaged hammers remaining.
  • Declan Dryden. Prodigy swordsman brought up in the orphanage of Stormwind with no recollection of his family, he's forever been in debt to the Kingdom of Stormwind for taking him in and will do anything to preserve the principles it stands by. After his promotion to High Command in the keep, he left his practical duties of the Sentry behind to use his extensive experience to serve the Alliance from there.
  • Sergeant Anthony Swofford. A Veteran of the streets of Stormwind who has served in and out of the many companies, regiments of guardsmen. Even spending a brief time within the local infantry. Retired after many years of service, spending the rest of his life with his loving family while making great barbecues to which he invites all his relatives every Sunday.
  • Corporal Orana Fletcher. Equally devoted to her sentry duties as she is the Light; Orana is an egomaniac, almost always found working, or volunteering at the Cathedral of Light. Her fidelity to not only her fellow Sentries but all of Stormwind has cemented her place in the company. Assassinated by a Scarlet sympathizer within the Cathedral of Light in Stormwind.
  • Corporal Alayna Reed. A loyal warrior with dreams of serving the city she grew up in. After serving within the Third City Sentry Company for a few months she showed her loyalty to the unit and earned the role of responsibility and leadership. Leading her fellow sentry men and women whenever they need her. Bed-ridden after a devastating encounter in Stranglethorn, she is resting within Northshire Abbey to this day.
  • Quartermaster Baldwin Bierbaum. A trained dog handler who can often be found with a rifle slung over his back, he's served with the Third City Sentry Company for a while now, eventually earning the responsibility of handling the supplies and carrying the King's standard into battle. Known for his trusty companion Doug and his hatred for the undead. He has recently been transferred to a desk job under Knight-Captain Dryden within the Stormwind Keep.
  • 'Corporal' Doug. A companion of Baldwin and the de-facto mascot of His Majesty's Cudgel, Doug has served the unit faithfully and to the best of his ability.

WANTED

  • Seishan Targon - When Corporal Seishan Targon delved deeper into devotion for the Light, his thoughts started to warp as he began to loathe the presence of non-believers around him. Eventually escalating into a clear fanatical hysteria. In the end, he deserted his duty as a Corporal to leave for the north. Now a confirmed member of the Scarlet Crusade and wanted by the Alliance as a deserter.
  • Amelia Braus - Wanted for escaping the Stockades where she was put for the rest of her life as a result of her causing the death of a Marshal of the Westbrook Garrison. She has been on the run for a few months now.
  • Tintin - The Sentries came to cross paths with the criminal known only as Tintin. The leader of The Blood Spades, a gang operating in weapon dealings, extortion, and infiltration within the Eastern Kingdoms. When bodies began to appear around Stormwind, marked with a singular spade it spiraled into a cat and mouse chase of the gang. In the end, the Spades suffered defeat at the hands of the sentries. But the losses they faced would be paramount as some of their own members had been exposed as infiltrators, alongside the lives of sentries that the Blood Spades and Tintin claimed.

ARRESTED/KILLED

  • Alvarik, the Butcher, is professionally known as the Backstreet Butcher. Originally locked up by then Corporal Dryden for serial killings and assassinations. He was slain recently by Sergeant Dryden upon escaping the stockades.
  • Gelris Tosslespark. A former hero of Gnomeregan, now escapee and Defias affiliate. The second in command of the Assemblage of Uld was apprehended by 'His Majesty's Cudgel' upon breaking the King's Peace in a bloody conflict at Stranglethorn; he was then locked up and held to a military tribunal to decide his fate, before long, however, he escaped and met with a Defias gang. - He's currently wanted by the Kingdom of Stormwind.
  • Don Earde. A pirate captain and the self-proclaimed kingpin of a new Defias uprising and so-called Mayor of Moonbrook was a menace to the Third City Sentry Company for too long. Only being arrested recently, he's already survived a shanking within the Stockades, and this is where he remains to this day.
  • Daniel Rudd. A corrupt officer of the crown. Rudd would send the patrollers he didn't like on the more dangerous patrols and waved aside and aided several criminal organizations in smuggling illegal contraband into Stormwind. He was later investigated by 'His Majesty's Cudgel' and currently resides within the Stockades after being found guilty.
  • Gudrin Gravelfuse. An eager Dark Iron who aimed to blow up the Deeprun Tram, hoping to sever the relationship between Stormwind and Ironforge if he were to succeed. This plan was foiled by the valiant Corporal Swofford, who somehow managed to defuse the bomb. Gudrin now resides within the Stockades.
  • Lockpick Lucy. A brilliant locksmith and criminal who broke into the homes of her customers, she eventually found herself in the notorious Stockades; Lucy then caused a riot by picking the locks of everyone in her cell wing, starting riot. Ironically, she met her end being crushed in the riot she started.
  • Bottleneck Bill. A devilish Kul Tiran crime boss. Bill was known for killing his opposition and then stuffing a bottle of rum down the throats of his victims. He was apprehended by the Third City Sentry Company, but it took many of the sentrymen to bring the burley Kul Tiran into submission. He died within the Stockades, meeting his end by a shank.
