League of Modimus

"To this day, lad, some of our greatest scars are those we’ve laid unto ourselves. The war… brother against brother, blood against blood. There are no two ways about it. When the Emperor’s of age, it will fall to him - he must be the one to rid us of that ancient fault line once and for all." -- Dwarven political rhetoric

About

The League of Modimus is a pan-dwarven military organization formed as the armed wing of a faction of Dwarven Senators. They serve the state in both internal and foreign affairs where the other forces are unable to. The League follows the ideals of Modimus Anvilmar, the last High King of the Dwarves, and as such, they seek to unite the Dwarven race by combining efforts and power of all the clans in the military organization.   Led by the Forge-Captains while overseen by Senators, they will give their own life in protection of their dwarven domains.

Background

Fer Khaz Modan!

It is the fifth Month of Year 35 ADP in the middle of N’zoth’s Black Empire invasion. During this time, Senator Czari decides to create the League of Modimus, a strong arm of Khaz Modan used in the promotion of pan-dwarf ideals through military endeavors and protection of dwarven interests as a whole.   The Senate faction led by Czari believed that the current heir to both Dark Iron and Bronzebeard Clans would be the uniter of all dwarven clans and the first High King since centuries. In order to create an environment for such potential, the League works to make sure no stone is unturned in dwarven lands and no threat is ignored.   The one to lead the unit would be Forge-Capitan Mifur Bronzebraid, a rather ordinary man with a cudgel which he used to discipline his bear with. He was the first to lead the League and start the spiral of their countless battles and missions.

Frostmane Troubles

The first of such tasks was given to them by one of the senators: a keg was missing and the Frostmane tribe trolls stole the Dark Iron equipment during its transportation to Dun Morogh. Such a thing was unbearable for the League and they marched out readily to strike at the Frostmanes in their own domain. However, upon arriving to the place where their senator's intel led, they found out the Frostmane tribe was armored in the very same equipment they stole.   This made the ice trolls a formidable and tough opponent to deal with as they could rely on the armor protection and their natural regeneration. But even though their opponents were great, the League and Forge-Captain emerged victoriously. They retrieved the stolen equipment, found the missing keg for the Senator, and returned back home basking in the glory of their first major mission success.

Relics Forgotten

Sometime after the Frostmane and other missions were complete, The League of Modimus and the Assemblage of Uld joined their forces together to sail to the cold lands of Northrend in search of ancient Titan relics. They moved through the lands of Northrend and ended up in Grizzly Hills, where they started their journey towards the ancient titan-forged settlements in search of their goals.   They managed to locate the settlement of the Iron Dwarves. As they approached the slope, the zealous Iron Dwarf defenders engaged them in battle. There, the Assemblage and the League managed to defeat any guard on their way, even though the battle wasn’t much in their favor. After they cleared the guards, they carefully approached the Iron Dwarf Vault and tried to sneak in. There were many traps set by the defenders, and although dwarf and gnome forces were brilliant in their skills, it still didn’t prevent them from triggering the alarms which shot lighting.   In the end, the Assemblage and the League managed to solve the issue through their combined efforts and force, ending up with a great number of Iron Dwarves imbued with the powers of the Titans. With such spoils of war, the League and the Assemblage decided to relocate from one fort to the other to secure the goods they acquired via flying machines. However just as they did it, they were assaulted by the Copper Street Solutions' zeppelin. The fight which transpired resulted in the death of Forge-Captain Mifur Bronzebraid, struck by an enemy shaman lighting strike.   Even though the League and the Assemblage managed to protect the goods they acquired, the League lost their leader and returned home.

New Captain and a Cold Front

With the rising unrest in Grizzly Hills and bold attacks of the Horde, the Alliance military groups meet together as the Concordat which is to strike back at the Horde trying to threaten Alliance civilians living in the area. Among the Concordant member, groups were the League. The League found itself a new leader also, in Husseth Grimtorch, a Dark Iron Sergeant.

Maggotbreath Strikes

Warlord Wol'mug Maggotbreath of Dragonmaw Clan was a powerful regional orcish warlord in the years prior, terrorizing the dwarven settlements and sparing no expenses in reaching his goal of conquering Khaz Modan for himself and his clan. Although believed to be dead, he survived and years after planned his next move against Khaz Modan.   The first thing he did was use his remaining wealth to hire mercenaries which he’d use to attack the dwarven settlements across the Khaz Modan, perhaps to acquire the further resources to fund his mercenaries - but primarily to strike fear into the hearts of Khaz Modan citizenry. The League responded instantly heading to protect the settlements which had the potential to be attacked, fending off any mercenaries which came to attack.
The League managed to track Wol’mug’s Mercenaries activity back to the Hinterlands. They formed a plan to ambush one of Maggotbreath lieutenants. Their mission was a success. With the power and experience the League had, the guards and Wol’mug lieutenants were no match for them. In order to extract the information about Wol’mug’s whereabouts, they tortured the orcish prisoner, to no avail. They had but a mention of Maggotbreath hiding in southern Khaz Modan.   But they couldn’t pursue south yet - as the Seventh Rastari Cohort arrived to perform a mysterious loa-related ritual around the Aerie Peak which could weaken the Wildhammer Clan and their gryphon hatchery severely. In the end, they managed to prevent the Painted Shields well enough to protect the Peak.
As they searched in the Burning Steppes and Searing Gorge they managed to encounter the hermit living on the steppes. He told them about some pale monstrosity living in the canyons of the western Steppes. As they approached to investigate the monster, they found out it was no other but Maggotbreath himself. The battle was ferocious, the orcish warlord bestial. In the end, he was slain for good.

The Stranglethorn Relics and Rituals

The League of Modimus arrived with other Concordat forces to the Stranglethorn to investigate the threat of the rising undead and troll spirits. The dense jungle growth caused the blockage of the passages that paved ways which would have led to efficient supplying. Because of that, the League decided to take upon the task of destroying the dense forests in Northern Stranglethorn to clear out the path. They did that by burning down the forests, which also angered the local spirits and natives.   Alongside the Assemblage, the League was ambushed by their historical rival, the Copper Street Solutions. The ambush done to the League was the one that severely hindered their capacities and completion of their goals in the area. In turn, soon after that, both the League and the Assemblage ambushed the Copper Street Solutions instead. The counter-ambush done to them was so great, that the Copper Street business with the Venture. Co. in the area effectively ended and some of their goons were killed.   During the attacks on the Alliance bases, the League was always standing on their feet to intercept. Whenever it is in Expedition Camp or in Zul’gurub they were making sure to stand their feet. During these times the League fought a few skirmishes with the Horde and even the Loyalists of Dark Lady. When the Zul’gurub Temple was assaulted, the League was one of many dozen military organizations which fought against the defending trolls. They too have witnessed the rise of the Nameless Loa and its subsequent defeat as well as aftermath which resulted in a small skirmish between the Horde and the Alliance.   Shortly after the temple assault, the League witnessed the arrest of Gelris Tosslespark which was heavily protested by the League. They were also present on the Trial, expressing major approval and support for both Gelris and the Assemblage.

Elements and Foreign Spaces

After their campaign in Stranglethorn, the League returned to Khaz Modan to deal with minor issues and recover from the battle. Sometime after that, they developed a rivalry with the Fire Elemental Aeternus who was terrorizing the southern Khaz Modan. Driven by the desire of reestablishing hold of the Fire Elements, it sought to strike fear into the heart of the clan, the fear which inspired devotion. In the end, after the long battle, Aeternus was banished back into the Firelands where he wouldn’t threaten Khaz Modan for a long time to come.
One day ethereal Faadhm approached the Assemblage of Uld and the League of Modimus. In search of knowledge, history, and treasures, the Ethereal proposed to them an expedition to the Titan archive planet, Horath. Upon their arrival there they had to face a void ethereal criminal trying to break in. The League and the Assemblage fought bravely vanquishing the void ethereal and gained access to the Titan Archivum where they encountered an endless amount of knowledge in form of discs.   Furthermore, the League acquired mysterious Spark of Khaz’goroth and Spark of Golganneth, a kin artifact to the Spark of Norgannon. Forge-Capitan Husseth Grimtorch took the Spark for the League and soon enough they were greeted by the local Titan Keeper who promised them use of his forge if the League and the Assemblage will help Horath in the future.

Cold Front of Dragonblight

Husseth Grimtorch and an orc by the name of "Giantrender" fought a duel during one of the days of the expedition into the Dragonblight. The duel was long and vicious, but in the end, Husseth was split in two by the savage and died - like a hero.   Shortly after the death of Husseth Grimtorch, D.O. Darkstone, the next chosen in line of the Forge Captains arrived at Dragonblight to keep the League together and to get vengeance for Grimtorch. During the battle in the crater, the League and Darkstone attacked Giantrender and his Path of Glory. Fueled by anger and fervor they were losing themselves to battle. Only when they realized that the loyalists would bury them beneath the snows of Azure Dragonshrine crater was when they joined forces with the Horde to fight against the Loyalists and Cult of the Damned. Though it was no pleasure to the League.   Sometime after that Darkstone was officially appointed as a new Forge-Captain by Husseth’s will. In a former ceremony, he also appoints Brangrom Hammerarm and Dulnus Stonemantle as his Hammer-Sergeants.

OpertaionFuselight

After the loss of Forge-Captain Husseth Grimtorch, the League was demoralized. This was the second captain and a well-loved one which perished to the Horde enemy. This led them to some leisure time spent in the Hinterlands with Clan Stormheart. There they purged a kobold colony to provide for the gryphon’s hatcher. As the eggs there needed a good source of natural heat, the kobold candles proved the perfect candidates.   Soon after that, the League arrived at Fuselight-By-Sea in the Badlands where they were to oversee the deal with the local goblin cartel. There, they encounter the Swinetusks, workers forced to work for them, and the Bilgewater Battalion. During the fight between League members and Orcs, the worker forces would rebel and attack the Chosen of Draenor as well. The battle would then move to the Fuselight-by-Sea where Hozen Raiders arrived to pillage the place from all of its valuables which forces all three groups back to retreat.   The League was there fighting in Northrend when the sky shattered. First, they advanced towards the slopes of the Icecrown mountain and were attacked by the forces of the Cult of the Damned and their undead forces. Then they ended up fighting in the Eastern Icecrown with the other forces against the strongest of the Scourge, such as the Ice Giants, Frost Wyrms, and abominations. During such a battle, the sky above the Icecrown was torn open and shattered.
Recently. The League and the Assemblage joined together to investigate a strange affliction in Anvilmar which turned out to be a form of the Plague tied to Plague of the Undeath. Their investigations led them to the land of Desolace where alongside the Horde forces they fought the Plagued Centaurs and undead led by dreadlord Mortifas. The case culminated in an attack on the Plaguehoof Clan base and the defeat of the dreadlord.

Fading legend

Throughout time Darkstone managed to lead the League into great success, success which he sought to bring further and further. However, he had his family to look after as well. An unexpected letter reached the headquarters, one which came from his son. His daughter-in-law had a little one coming into the family. Darkstone had a hard choice to make, one which didn't take long though. After he informed the Senator about the situation he was given a replacement straight from him. He contacted a Dark Iron dwarf, Lexa Bravebraid. She was to seek out Darkstone and meet up with him, he was already informed that someone was deployed. Eventually, they met up and went fishing together, the whole League joined in on it which became a fun night for everyone.   Days eventually passed by, days which Darkstone used to prepare his goodbye. He planned a Night of Three Kegs, one which invited every one of the Concordat. Unfortunately, not everyone could make it. Both the Assemblage of Uld and the Order of Oronaar came over and had a blast of a night. When the night came closer he requested to have everyone's attention, he was preparing to give a big speech before retiring.   The evening became quiet but his deeds and memories will never fade away. After his speech, everyone in the room felt happy but also sad at the same time. People were glad his legacy would move on but also sad about his departure.

The final decision

When the Twilight Cult attacked Khaz Modan once again it caused Lexa Bravebraid to depart and head back into Shadowforge. She was ordered to set up a defense whilst her second in command at that time was promoted to Forge Captain until everything settled down deep within Blackrock. It was then that Boin Heavycloak became the Modimi's newest leader, though it came at a cost. Bravebraid was known to carry her hammer and shield with the intention of keeping the peace, Boin had yet to prove himself.   Whilst he was the Forge Captain he made choices Bravebraid and some would disagree with, one of them is signing the contract to officially become one with the Assemblage and go with the name "Forgecog Fellowship" From that day on more decisions were made. Another one is stepping out of the Concordat. Heavycloak also began making allies with the people who some of the Forgecog members never liked due to past events.   Though in time Boin was called back to his mountain, leaving the Forgecog behind. Of course, it needed a new leader, one who would carry on the wishes of the Forgecog and its glory. Bravebraid was told of the Forgecog events, causing her to abandon her post whilst it was safe to do so. Though upon arriving back she was informed of his choices, choices she wanted to revert. With Lexa's new right hand, Kanma, she hopes that she can continue with the Forgecog, leading it in a direction every Forge Captain would've wanted.

It is only in recent times that Dulnus has become the head of the clan and with it his new responsibilities as an ascended champion of Ironforge: a Mountain King.   Brangorm Hammerarm - one of the former Hammer-Sergeants. Brangorm is old almost a three centuries old Bronzebeard clan member and a Mountain King/Thane, one of the most, if not, the most powerful warrior in the League. During battle it is not a rare sight to witness his Avatar form where he assumes the form alike to Iron Dwarf striking his foes with lighting.   Mirjam Goldforge - a Bronzebeard runic priestess of the League. She commands the holy magics which resonate with the faith of the Dwarves in the Titans. Through use of the runes and other chants she both heals and strikes.   Brian Stormslash - a Wildhammer ryphon rider, always accompanied by his gryphon whenever possible.
