Scheduled Articles/Notifcations

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

Sometimes I want an article to be released at a certain time, be it a specific day or hour. Some, even, are things I write ahead of time to be ready by a specific date. Now, I could manually manage this— but I'm not always home or free when I need to hit the button!   Being able to set an article to go public or at least notify followers at a set time would help a lot with these sorts of situations!

How does this feature request address the current situation?

By introducing a scheduling feature, we could release our articles to meet our own niche deadlines and goals (like when I run my holiday events for APRA)!

What are other uses for this feature request?

Some folk may want to keep certain articles secret until an opportune time, such as a DM waiting til after their session to post an article about the big bad the party is planned to meet. If someone is releasing a product, like a TTRPG, they may wish to schedule a tie-in article to release around the same time as the game, too!   This could also be used to bump our articles in different timezones for audiences that we may not reach as often! If paired with social media such as twitter, which also has a scheduled post feature, it could make sharing our articles more organized, as well.

The Team's Response

If/when it happens scheduling of articles (or any other content) for release will be a much more broad solution that will allow for the scheduling of processes not solely publication and it will be part of the Automation features to be developed for Sage+ professionals initially post version v.1.0.0 of World Anvil

This was being a topic in discussion maaany months ago and I am sure it made it to "some" list. Glad this is popping up again.   I have an addition to this request: scheduled "unpublishing" also. Example: create a christmas article that pops up december 1st and then vanishes again after the holidays. Best would be if you could even make this repeatable, so it does this every month/year automatically, as you'd need it.

I won't personally use this feature, but can only see good reasons for its being added. It would probably boost World Anvil's overall appeal for more creators, which would be a good thing in my opinion.

this would be awesome!!! Especiallly announcing streams and such. I don't know how difficult this would be for the developers to implement, but I appreciate features like these on other social media platforms. God bless and thanks for suggesting this.

Something I would like to add on is for this to also apply to manuscripts for writers who want to have scheduled releases for their chapters/scenes. Otherwise, this would be very helpful for timed events or for those who don't have access to a computer or phone at that time.   I could also see this working as a checkbox, where after you click the box to say you want to schedule your article for release, it would prompt you to put in a date and time (it can be military or regular with an AM or PM after it).
