What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

In the past year, invalid challenge entries have gone up significantly. We're talking wrong article template and even titleless articles. Only in a few cases were these actually intended to be challenge entries with the wrong template.   For whatever reason, it seems a lot of folks accidentally submit articles (or accidentally leave them unavailable). With the Tavern Challenge, we had nearly a hundred. With Adventure April, over a hundred non-plot articles were submitted already. This makes it real hard for people to find actual entries to read.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

I would suggest that to submit an article to a Challenge, it must both have a title (preventing titleless non-working submissions) and be of the right article template (preventing completely incorrect submissions and loss of a badge for someone who accidentally uses the wrong template).   (That would still leave unavailable (private/draft) articles as obnoxious, but often people submit those while still WIP so they don't forget later, so I'm not making a suggestion aggainst those.)

What are other uses for this feature request?

This would also make it easier for Forge Judges to go through the entries.

In my opinion, the ability to properly locate articles on the challenge page is already an accurate depiction of your ability to discover articles in Literally any other location on this website ( janky, has issues, sometimes appears broken, but still working as intended, right? ). Also, I'm pretty sure a similar idea about the challenge page was shot down before....   The only reason why I am supporting this idea is because it is still a good idea. As much as I appreciate the pinned discord post that lists all the legitimate entries, the WA website itself should be in a state where such a thing is unnecessary, where all the relevant challenge entries are listed, and all the irrelevant ones are hidden or are never allowed to be entered to begin with.

I don't have a ton of coins to support this, but I totally agree that this needs to be done!

I went through the Adventure April list earlier today, and less than a quarter of the linked articles were even adventures - the rest were either drafts, untitled, or completely unrelated to the challenge. It was a huge waste of time.

I agree with other commentators here that having a flag or block on private/WIP articles would be useful in addition to the main suggestion.

I thought this was suggested before and turned down for whatever reason. Nevertheless, I believe it should be better regulated. Thanks for bringing this up again. God bless.

With Michael's reading effort in the last few challenges I think he has a good perspective on this. Also with the judging changes on future challenges I think this will be important for the Forge Judges.   In addition, for the private articles, a note or tag beside their entry on the challenge page list could save a judge's and reader's time.

I feel like this was just an oopsie or an oversight when putting together the last challenges, as the programming for a challenge submission button to only show in the correct template is definitely already there (As with summercamp), so I guess it should be really easy to fix.

+1 on Rahjar's and ddaniel's suggestions as well. I think that locking that submission button only for the intended article template combined with a well intended warning would help a lot in filtering out the first set of accidental submissions. :)

Honestly, it would be rather trivial to have a check if an article is private or draft before displaying it in the submissions list.   So I don't see that as an additional issue.

I'd also point out it might be a good idea to lock the "submit an article" buttons ot the right templates. Right now they appear on all types of articles, even when a challenge demands a template

Is there a confirmation notification already? Maybe something that requires more hassle or BOLDER and BIGGER letters on an "are you sure?" before submitting. A well designed warning can maybe achieve this too
