Deceased Icon In Family Trees

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

A Deceased marker (tombstone) signifying a Family Tree member is not alive.
When looking at a Family Tree, there is no way of knowing if whether someone is alive or dead unless both birth and death dates are entered in their sheet.

Worse, there is no context to the calendar years underneath their image/name in the Family Tree if there is only such date (birth/death). If, for example, only the year of their DEATH |or| BIRTH is put into their article there is no indication what that single year entry means.

In writing or databases, if someone's death in year 99 was the only entry it might read (?-99) or (x-99). But in World Anvil, whether it's birth or death, it just reads (99).

There are many reasons why a birth or death date is not known. But if one of them IS known, it causes even more confusion.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

A simple change to the member tiles in the Family Tree would allow a viewer to instantly know whether someone is alive or dead. There are two possible solutions...

Marker
A simple marker (tombstone) would clear it up with a glance. Such a marker could be similar to the non-blood related marker for spouses.

Change To Birth/Death Displays
Autopopulating an empty birth/death field with a (?) would also do it. Typical format would be as follows for a person who died in 99 but no birth year was listed.

(?-99)

What are other uses for this feature request?

A likely addition that would also help would be a shield/crown marker for the current lord/monarch in a family. I guess this would provide the ground work for that change down the road. At the moment, the title in the name is sufficient for such purposes.
