Mimi

"The Desert That Remembers the Sky"
The Kingdom of Mimi is a vassal state within the Nyaan Empire, overseeing a diverse landscape that ranges from deserts and grasslands to coastal marshlands. As a resource-heavy and strategically positioned province, Mimi plays a crucial role in supplying weapons, materials, and research innovations to the empire. Though it enjoys a degree of autonomy, particularly in its internal governance, Mimi’s loyalty to the Nyaan Empire is tied to its economic interdependence and strategic importance.   Mimi serves as both an industrial powerhouse and agricultural center, contributing steel, relics, firearms, food, and pharmaceuticals that sustain the empire’s military and civilian sectors. However, this relationship is not without tension—local independence movements, black markets, and competing factions challenge Mimi’s delicate role as both a faithful servant and independent entity.

Structure

The King of Mimi acts as the supreme authority but must comply with directives from the imperial council of the Nyaan Empire.   Governors oversee the provinces (Allos, Soo, Barrog) and manage local trade, agriculture, defense, and law enforcement.   Regional Councils in key cities, like Jinka, Kings, and Toroko, provide input on matters affecting the local economy and public policy.

Culture

Spelunkers of Mimi

The subterranean labyrinths of Mimi have attracted a unique class of adventurers—spelunkers, a daring and resourceful group known for their ability to traverse dangerous underground environments. In Mimi, spelunking is more than just exploration; it’s a high-risk venture driven by the promise of lost technology, ancient artifacts, and unclaimed power. Spelunkers are treated as both heroes and outlaws in the Nyaan Empire, balancing fame and infamy in equal measure.

Public Agenda

Economic Growth and Stability: Expanding industrial output and agricultural production to support the empire’s military efforts.   Preservation of Miminian Heritage: Through efforts led by Toroko, Mimi seeks to preserve ancient relics and traditions from the fallen Annuko civilization.   Military Collaboration: Training officers at the Imperial Sky Navy Academy in Qote to support the empire’s airship fleet.   Sustainable Development: Initiatives from Toroko’s research institutes aim to balance industrial activity with environmental preservation, promoting sustainable farming and reducing Magha contamination.

History

Mimi, named after the colossal floating island that fell from the heavens, is not a land in the traditional sense but a relic site. The Sandzone Desert, which stretches endlessly across the region, is believed to have formed from the powdered remains of the fallen island. This once-majestic structure, now scattered across the desert sands, holds secrets that date back to an age of advanced technology, blending with ancient magic known as Artts.   Beneath the sands lies a vast network of intricate underground structures—collapsed aqueducts, forgotten cities, and mechanical chambers. These are the remains of an ancient race with expertise in robotics. Scattered among the ruins are robotic components, suggesting these beings could create and maintain artificial life. Advanced weaponry such as missile launchers, laser guns, and automatic weapons are buried within the sand, speaking to the civilization’s mastery over technology far beyond what the Nyaan Empire currently wields.   Excavations have uncovered skeletal remains of an extinct Miminian Annuko, a species native to the world of Ysanaf. This variant, adapted to cave life on the floating island, hints at a world teeming with life that has long since vanished, crushed by the island’s fall or wiped out in the following chaos. The discovery of these bones has sparked intense debate among scholars and Magha Trackers, as some believe the collapse of the floating island may have catalyzed catastrophic ecological shifts.   Hidden beneath the sands are labyrinthine tunnels, cave systems, and partially intact chambers. These structures seem to have served both as living quarters and defense systems, filled with traps that activate even now, centuries after the fall.

Laws

Qote has lax gun laws, with open carry expected, reflecting the region’s reliance on firearms for security.   Kurly in Barrog prohibits gambling, prioritizing community welfare over profit.   Allos has flexible laws to accommodate the independent nature of spelunking operations, though black market activities complicate governance.

Agriculture & Industry

Soo Province is the agricultural heart of the kingdom, producing grain, livestock, medicinal herbs, and fuel from Tsako Grass.   Vertical Farms in Toroko supply additional food and herbs, especially during the wet season   Kings is the industrial powerhouse, producing weapons, steel, and machinery that are essential for the empire’s military campaigns.   Jinka in Allos Province recycles ancient relics and robotic parts from the Sandzone Desert, making it a vital hub for resource recovery.   Toroko is home to pharmaceutical labs, providing cutting-edge medicines, including experimental Magha detox treatments and cures for narcotics addiction.

Trade & Transport

Nyaanese Rail Network: The rail system connects Kings, Toroko, and Barrog Province, facilitating the movement of weapons, resources, and agricultural goods. However, Allos Province lacks rail connectivity, relying instead on airships and caravans.

Infrastructure

Railways: The Western Nyaanese Rail connects Barrog’s cities (Qote and Kurly), facilitating north-south trade. Meanwhile, Kings and Toroko are connected to the empire’s main rail system, although Allos remains isolated.   Canals: Both Toroko and Qote maintain elaborate canal systems to prevent flooding and support trade. Qote’s canals drain marsh water into the ocean, while Toroko’s canals serve as aesthetic and functional public spaces.   Airship Ports: Jinka and Kings rely heavily on airship transport to move relics, weapons, and supplies. Airships also connect remote regions, ensuring critical trade flows despite incomplete rail coverage.   Sustainable Infrastructure: Toroko’s pollution-capturing systems and vertical farms reflect the kingdom’s commitment to balancing urban development with environmental preservation.
