Allos
Allos Province encompasses the majority of the Sandzone Desert, a vast and dangerous wasteland known for its shifting sands, buried relics, and ancient robot debris. Governed from its largest settlement, Jinka, Allos relies on expeditions, recycling, and artifact trade for economic survival. Due to its harsh environment and difficult terrain, Allos remains isolated from the main rail networks of the Nyaan Empire, with most trade and transport occurring via airship or caravans.
Allos operates with a degree of administrative independence from the Nyaan Empire, focusing on managing the desert’s hazards and regulating spelunking expeditions. The province’s remote nature and challenging climate make it both a refuge for outcasts and a haven for black-market traders dealing in forbidden relics.
Structure
The governor of Allos resides in Jinka, overseeing spelunking regulations and artifact trade policies. The governor’s authority often clashes with black market operators, leading to political tensions within the city.
Culture
Spelunking Competitions: Every year, Jinka hosts spelunking contests, where adventurers compete to recover the most valuable relics from the labyrinths. These competitions are a major draw for tourists and merchants.
Desert Festivals: Despite the harsh environment, the people of Allos celebrate desert life through festivals that include music, metal art displays, and storytelling about legendary explorers and lost expeditions.
Metal Art and Craftsmanship: Inspired by their reliance on scrap metal, Allos residents express themselves through sculpture, murals, and functional art. The Iron Wall of Jinka, originally a failed sandstorm barrier, is now covered in vivid murals depicting tales of survival and discovery.
Agriculture & Industry
Recycling Hub: Jinka, the province’s main city, processes wreckage from airships and ancient machines. It supplies raw materials and spare parts to Kings and other industrial centers of the empire.
Black Market Influence: The artifact trade attracts criminals and smugglers, complicating governance. Some factions within Jinka have deep ties to the black market, leading to corruption and power struggles.
Trade & Transport
Tourism and Spelunking Expeditions: Adventurers flock to Allos to explore the labyrinths and hunt for treasure, though many expeditions never return. The Iron Tower in Jinka serves as a beacon for explorers, providing a gathering point for expeditions and artifact auctions.
Relic Trade: Merchants and smugglers operate openly and covertly, selling relics, Magha crystals, and robotic components salvaged from the underground labyrinths. This trade has drawn black market rings into Allos, making it a hotspot for illegal transactions.
Airships and Caravans: With no rail system, Allos depends on airship ports for importing supplies and exporting relics. Airships transport artifacts, metal scraps, and Magha-enhanced devices to other provinces.
Lack of Rail Connectivity: The absence of rail links isolates Allos from the rest of Mimi, making it dependent on airship trade. Supply disruptions can have serious consequences, especially during sandstorm seasons.
Infrastructure
Covered Streets in Jinka: To survive the constant sandstorms, Jinka’s roads are fully enclosed beneath iron roofs, giving the city an indoor feel. Mechanical cranes transport goods and spelunkers across the city, as well as lowering them into the labyrinths below.
Secluded Outposts: Beyond Jinka, small outposts scattered across the desert serve as supply stations and checkpoints for caravans and expeditions. These outposts are heavily fortified, offering shelter from sandstorms and robotic threats.
