Oanie
Oanie are the single most notorious sophonts within the Milky Way. Originating on Karkhala, a planet in the Kurhira System, their reign now spans thousands of planets across the galaxy. Their recent efforts to colonise much of the Lesser Field have resulted in their territories expanding far beyond what it was, giving the species access to new land and resources.
Their believed entitlement to other's land comes down to their culture. Most oanie are under the impression they are the most intelligent beings in the Yonderverse, putting them above everyone else in the social hierarchy. Oanie have a complete disregard for other lifeforms, going so far as to wiping out entire civilisations for their own personal gain.
Taxonomy
Oanie are in the genus Pongo, alongside orangutans. They are closely related to a number of other sophonts, including norrabians and the extinct humans.
Anatomy
Standing tall at just over three metres, the average adult oanie dwarfs most other sophonts in the Milky Way. Their large head and thick skull preserves a swollen brain.
Oanie have dark brown or grey skin, slightly mottled with dark and light spots around the face and palms. The rest of the body is covered in thick orange or brown hair, grown longer in some individuals as a stylistic choice.
Thick cheek pouches are used to store fat and water, in case of starvation or dehydration. Oanie have a pair of small grey horns atop their head, in front of long floppy ears, dangling down to the neck.
Most oanie have giant plump bodies with thin arms and legs. Typically arboreal people, oanie have incredible arm strength, their housing designed for both ground level and arboreal movement.

Diet
Like others in their genus, oanie are primarily frugivores. Soft fruits are favoured thanks to their inherent brittle teeth, but improvements in technology have given them medication to improve their dental hygiene, allowing them to consume a wider variety of foods.
Few oanie take the time to prepare intricate meals. Most oanie sub-cultures see the culinary world as a waste of time and energy, instead preferring to eat food products in their most raw form. Most supermarkets on Karkhala exclusively sell raw fruits and bags of leaves, which also make up a considerable amount of the species' diet.
Small animals make up a small part of their diet, including many arboreal mammal species - occasionally other primates.
Reproduction & Growth
Oanie are very attentive parents, taking great care when raising their children. Most oanie avoid having children until around forty years of age. It is common for people to focus on financial stability, and once this is achieved they focus on raising a family, and passing down their fortunes and family values and traditions.
Oanie give birth to one child at a time (most have two to six children in a lifetime, vastly dependent on culture). Babies are born altricial and are reliant on parents for survival. Babies solely feed on the mother's milk for the first year, then it is recommended for a diet split evenly between breast milk and solid foods for the next year. After two years, a baby oanie should be on a diet of solid foods.
History
Oanie first evolved on Karkhala around seven million years ago. They quickly out-competed their close relatives and ancestors, driving other hominids on the planet to extinction. With no other creature rivalling the oanie in intelligence and strength, they were quick to populate the rest of the globe.
They were slow to advance as a species until the last ten thousand years. Almost four thousand years ago the oanie developed space-faring technology, allowing them to explore beyond their planet. Oanie were lucky, discovering ellestriite early on during their Space Age, making their spacecrafts ten times as efficient. This allowed the oanie to travel much farther into the galaxy, discovering thousands of new planets.
One by one, the oanie claimed other planets as their own. At first the process was done legally, through the Planetary Acquisition Management Facility, but after the oanie established themselves as a dominant force in the Milky Way, they realised they could illegally claim new planets through colonisation and invasion without consequences.
Since this realisation, the oanie have decimated hundreds of known civilisations, possibly thousands more. With over ten thousand planets and near a hundred thousand asteroids and other celestial objects, the oanie's reign continues to expand and oppress. Many have tried to oppose these people, but have come up short due to the oanie's sheer ruthlessness.
The Galanti-Karkhala War is one of the most devastating conflicts to have happened in recent times. The war was a series of conflicts, each one worse than the previous, eventually resulting in the decimation of several planets and millions of innocent civilians. The Galanti League tried to push back against the oanie, protecting their solar system, but succumbed to the sheer power of these merciless people.
I don't think I like the oanie.
