Mathias Abernathee

Mathias Orpheus Abernathee was artificially created by The Cult of Science by combining blood harvested from Laertes Venth and a Purified Godstone of Naphriel in order to defeat and kill Laertes. After Mathias failed to assassinate Laertes, the two began a fight that Laertes ultimately won at the cost of his right eye. Shortly after, he deduced the boy's origins and Laertes's wife, Petalwish Abernathee, insisted they adopt Mathias. If not traveling between dimensions to aid in conflict as a member of his father's guild The Infinite Garden, Mathias will often be found in the libraries of The Verdant Shroud, seeking to most efficiently understand how to use his uniquely composed form brimming with strong amounts of White Magick and a much higher degree of Black Magick. As a result of the Stone of Naphriel, Mathias does not suffer from Void Hunger in the same way Laertes does. However, as this innately Black Magick-laden force attempts to flow throughout his body, it is violently suppressed by the White Magick emanating from the Stone in his chest, creating a phenomenon of chronic pain throughout his right arm. His research in The Verdant Shroud has lead him to dabble in the utilization of Green Magick, and while his progress in the field is currently small, he has found that practices that provoke this "forbidden" branch of Arcane Magick to manifest greatly relieve the painful pressure he constantly endures from his shoulder down. Specifically, Mathias has been receiving tutoring in secret from The Emperor of the Verdant Shroud, Corelli Shireshelli, in the workings of Green Magick. This is done in secrecy against as Laertes empirically distrusts Emperor Shireshelli and already dislikes that Mathias's brother, Kaulifar Venth, is under the Emperor's employ as one of his Pale Green Talons.
