The Cult of Science
"The End is All" - The Motto of The Cult of Science
The Cult of Science is an organization that believes research and the pursuit of knowledge to be the most important goal any being may pursue, as ensuring that you and those that come after you have the greatest intellectual foundation achievable is their ultimate goal. While at times their actions can be seen by the outside world as inhumane or torturous, the Cult continues to see their actions as ultimately benevolent as they believe diligent worship of education to be the only path to true salvation.
Initially, the Cult was created by Corelli Shireshelli in an effort to consolidate the greatest minds in Xelestar under his guidance for whatever personal interests he pursued. As payment for joining the organization (initially titled "The Luxari", or "The Bright Ones" in Elvish), Corelli promised the each member of the Cult land and power when he claimed dominion over Gildrake in the long-planned Sunrise Coup. However, upon meeting Waverly Aulder, Corelli totally abandoned the Cult and its members. Despite the total removal of leadership and eventual financial gain, the Cult stayed together; still believing themselves to be the single group of people capable of guiding Xelestar toward the greatest version of itself. In fact, as it was revealed that Corelli Shireshelli was directly descended from Ashmodai, "The Presence" and had experienced Proximitive Apotheosis that ascended him to becoming the God of Introspection, the Cult began to preach the message that they were brought together by Divine Intervention.
Despite his efforts to distance himself from the Cult, Shireshelli would come under political fire when it was revealed that as a result of research spearheaded by himself during his time as leader of The Cult, the faction was able to actualize the construction of a functional mortal being to their specific designs (for their specific purposes). It was not until half a century after his departure from the organization that the Cult successfully created the first of their artifical humanoids. In honor of the title given to them by their benefactor, and the Deity-level pride they felt in themselves for creating a new form of man descended from elves, they decided to call these individuals "The Luxari".
