Worldember 2023
Worldember 2023 Prep
Week 1: Pledge Your Goal
1. Choose an area of focus
My area of forcus for this event will be the history of the world, in particular the republic of Estalia. I've had several recent ideas for historical events, and I've felt for a while that the current timeline needs to be both fleshed out and reorganized. See below for some initial notes for the history!- Geological History (In Progress) - Wyrring Geology
- Estalian-Disorganized Conflicts - Needs to be organized
- 1st Estalian-Disorganized War - Needs additional details, including specific battles, people, and actions.
- 2nd Estalian-Disorganized War - Needs additional details, including specific battles, people, and actions.
- Reformation - To be created, but after the 2nd War, I imagine a time with significant progress of the relationship between humans and non-humans in Estalia. Should also include important activists and artists of the era.
- Timelines in existing chronicle need to be sorted into areas and importance.
- Inventions
- The impact of these inventions on the world
2. Create your pledge!
3. Submit your homework
Submitted!Week 2: Prepare your Area of Focus
1. Create a mini-meta
Scope:- The timelines will primarily focus on Estalia and Aedan, as they are the largest countries in the region, but there may be minor effects to the surrounding countries.

- Reformation:
- David Hume: https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/hume/
- Renaissance: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renaissance
- American Civil Rights Movement
- Incorporating Magic and Technology:
- Eberron
- Piltover/Runeterra (LoL & Arcane)
- Shadows of the Apt by Adrian Tchaikovsky
- The Bolo universe by Keith Laumer
- I want to fill in the gaps currently in the world's timeline.
- The world is meant to be mystical and fun, with a sense of realism without getting too "gritty". This means the history should probably be "washed" - where it's full of grand actions and great heroes, without focusing on the necessary evils which come with war and development.
2. Set up a solid category structure
I recently redid my article structure, so I will instead focus on organizating the chronicle. See notes below! Row 1: GlobalRow 2: National
Row 3: Local
Row 4: Personal
Timelines:
3. Look at other worlds for inspiration
As stated above there are several non-WA worlds which will likely be strong inspirations for the world.4. Submit your homework
Submitted!Week 3: Welcome your Readers!
1. Review your Homepage
This is something that I've been meaning to work on for a while, and I'm glad to finally have the excuse!a. Know your Audience
My audience is predominantly several friends, many of which have played in campaigns in this world.b. Open with a Pitch: Why should they care?
I've updated the introduction. The pitch itself is mostly unchanged, as what was previously was basically it.c. Introduce your World: What can your readers expect?
I've updated the introduction! I've added more details to give a bit more of a detailed introduction.d. Add a call to action: Where should readers go next?
I've added links in the home page to useful pages for players.e. Format and Layout: Make it easy to look at
I've updated the introduction!f. Visual Style: Pretty and Thematic!
Updated! I'm not 100% happy - in particular, I think I need to find a better global banner - but it's okay for now.2. Submit your homework

Final Word Count: 103,797 Worldember: 5,186 Unfortunately, I ended up falling a bit short from my goal. I felt like I had run out of steam about halfway through the month, and didn't pick it back up during my winter break. I will of course continue to work on the world - including over the next couple of days - but I will be stopping my Worldember challenge now. As always, thank you very much for the motivation and the inspiration!New Articles
