Warforged

Made of metal and wood, Warforged are a form of artificial life which can be found throughout Wyrring.

Origin

With the advent of Kinetic Engines and Technocores, incredibly complex movement systems could be completed. The first complex mechanical system was created by a group of Enginists from Brost who were seeking to create a companion cart for the mineworks which could traverse through any type of terrain. These minecarts, known as Mule, were extremely useful and practical, and similar carts were adopted throughout the country for other uses. These carts quickly came through several iterations, including one version which could automatically follow their owners.
Inspired by this, and wanting to push the envelope, a group of Enginists proposed that they could use a series of technocores to create a simplified brain, to the point of achieving intelligence. After several years and iterations, the first Warforged were created. Although the hopes for them were originally extremely high, the results were even higher than expected. The warforged were far smarter than anticipated and were found to be able to understand extremely complex problems and complete detailed tasks. The exact cause of this increased intelligence is unknown, with many enginists attributing it to the "Aggregate Effect" - a belief that the strength of kinetic engines are increased when many of them are placed together.

Adaptive Form

Most warforged take on appearances similar to humans. However, there are many different variations of forms, such as those with extra limbs, some which take on the form of various animals, or extremely large or small statures. 
Additionally, the body of a warforged can vary significantly throughout it's lifetime, either from body modification, or the entire movement of the technocore to a different body.

Constructs

Warforged do not need to eat, sleep, drink, or breathe to survive. However, they require regular doses of Sparkpowder to power their various kinetic engines and technocore.

Warforged in Wyrring

Warforged can be found throughout Wyrring, in particular in the cities of Aedan, Estalia, and Summer Shores. Warforged in Estalia are required to be registered at the Department of Artificial Life.
