The ALUMN are spoken of in jocular terms by the denizens of Rotterdam, the most powerful and advanced nation of Midland. Their existence is considered to be a nothing more than an imaginative conspiracy theory by the public at large. Officially, the ALUMN do not exist. It is postulated that they purposefully spread ridiculous rumors about their nature to make their existence seem implausible.An Opaque Acronym
It's unknown if the name "ALUMN" is an acronym, or a reference to a shared school or organization that its constituent members mutually attended. A popular urban legend is that the term is an acronym meaning "Anonymous League of Unseen Masters." Strangely, this urban legend has no explanation for the missing last letter.Cleaning up a Mess
After the disappearance of Zikrieg Academy, the ALUMN convened to investigate a mysterious rift in reality that manifest in the foundational remnants of the magical academy. They sent wave after wave of mercenary forces into an apparently infinitely descending staircase where the lars of reality and magic seemed to no long behave. They revealed a connection to funding the research of Archmage Zikrieg, and sought both him and a mysterious tome to unravel exactly what happened to the academy.Members at Large
