Dreamers Species in Wasteland Of Ohm | World Anvil

Dreamers

Believed to be a remnant of the Forgotten Era, or of an era between the Forgotten Era and Awoken Era. The term dreamers refer to the strange discovery of remains, fossils, and equipment of several long-dead sentient species. These remains have been discovered across the content of Plenumia often buried deep underground or in hidden places. From the information that Awoken have gathered there are four known species of the Dreamers.
  • Colviv: Beetle-like entitys rumored to still be alive on Plenumia due to monsters still found that resemble them. One example has even been seen in recent history, that being the enigmatic figure of Doctor Shod.
  • Lupvil: Dog-like entities who seemed to have found tight nit communities. Often found in possession of Forgotten Era relics. How these beings got a hold of such powerful technologies and equipment remains a deep mystery.
  • Feldis: Cat-like entities whose remains suggest many violent encounters with their tools seeming to always be related to possible torture. Their bodies are always found in large groups, what seem to be mass graves.
  • Balth: Horse-like entities whose remains are always found laying beside another of their own kind. Only two examples of this species have been found, with the location of the two sites being on almost opposite ends of Plenumia. Its believed by Awoken scholars that this species was too spread out to continue their survival in the pre-titans era.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Due to the examples and fossilized remains of these species being so rare, many groups on Plenumia value them greatly. Their existence while not secret is not a well-known public fact yet. The colleges in Fields Union do their best to preserve these remains and work to spread the knowledge of their existence to the larger public. However privet sellers in the Classless Badlands see the bones and tools of these long-forgotten people goods to be sold to the most wealthy, trading much of what they find to the Bridge Way Monarchy to the detest of the scholarly class of Plains Tenders.

Average Intelligence

While their level of intellect is of much debate, it is unknown just how intelligent these species were in life. However what is clear is that they were social creatures who knew how to construct tools, the quality, and nature of which differed from specimen to specimen.

Civilization and Culture

History

It is theorized that the dreamers existed sometime between the Age of Dream and the Age of Titans. However stone tablets carved during the Age of Titans talk of a forgotten war with a group of Colviv and Feldis. The names of the other two species were also recovered from these same tablets.  These species also gained their cultural title of Dreamers due to several stories found on similar carved tablets and writings from the Age of Tyrants where an ancient historian wrote.
"While our enemy has returned to the great dream, I fear the coming wrath they may return with. They are the Dreamers, and we are the Awoken, directly opposing sides."
This talk of their return has been a point of debate for years. As there is no sign that outside of one example of a surviving Colviv there is no sign of any larger group. Though the author of the text where the quote was taken is believed to have been a member of the Copper Mount Militia, and that it may be a part of the fear of The coming Sky Fire.
