God-Blood Crystals

Article Contents

The Gods of the World of Vreathe are immortal, but they can still bleed. Their blood takes the form of aethercite crystals after it dries. These crystals are very power objects. A small selection of them are listed below in the same format as the Aethercite Catalogue:

Catalogue of God Blood Crystals

Blood of Liamond

Description: Liamond, the God of Nothing is from another universe. He came to Vreathe to preach the "truth of the cosmos", sending a Bronze Age Vreathe into chaos and started a great war between the gods. His battle with the Elder God Tellars spilled quite a bit of his blood.

M-Charge: Any mana charged into this crystal instantly disappears. It is not like a Beryl which doesn't interact with mana at all. The Blood of Liamond seems to destroy it outright.

A-Charge: This crystal will store Aether normally. When it stores enough, it will start to glow green. At saturation it is almost white, then at saturation, the light turns black.

A-Saturation: When saturated with aether, this crystal quickly bleeds off its magic in the form of a field of inverted light. Anything that goes inside this light except for humans is instantly destroyed, teleported to the universe that Liamond came from. It will only teleport the portion that goes inside the light.
Price: 8800 Beryls per carat

Type: Celestial Mineral

Composition: Seems to be chemically similar to a sapphire, though unlike sapphires, Liamond's blood can fluoresce.

Density: 8.7g/cm3

Color: Deep Blue

Fluorescence: Bright green

Gem Forging: Gem steel made with the blood of Liamond seem to defy all logic. The metal has a dark blue, almost black appearance. They create perfect cutting edges, or rather, they create a sort of Void Blade that makes whatever it touches disappear to the universe Liamond came from. This blade does not interact with humans at all, but will interact with the clothing and armor they are wearing.

Consumption: If consumed, the blood of Liamond has the amazing effect of completely purifying the human body of all curses, blessing, blood pacts, and many more effects. It does not actually affect the human body. The reason for this is that humans on Vreathe actually originated from another world and entered Vreathe through the pathways of Meliheal.

Effects on god touched humans: If a person has the God Trace, of any god, their entire being will disappear if they consume Liamond's blood. Void Blades are able to cut through them, erasing the severed parts of the body from existence. Some humans have been able to resist these blades, mainly those that are descended from Saint Nora.

Common uses: Mercure Elixers makes a potion with the Blood of Liamond, which they call a Purifying Elixer. It has additonal ingredients like diamond dust to stabilize the effects of this god blood, but it is still a very powerful potion.

Locations Found: When Tellars captured Liamond, Liamond was punctured many times with a spear and he bled all over Vreathe, so his blood can be found in some amount across the world, buried deep in the earth. The site of his defeat near the city of Semmitra created a large crystal lake of his blood. This too was buried but it also created the largest deposit of his blood in the world. The Curch of Saint Nora keeps the exact location of this lake a secret to prevent people from taking advantage of it.

Blood of Saint Nora

Description: Saint Nora used to be the elder goddess of Time and Order. When she became a human, she bled plain red blood. Her blood when she was an elder goddess though is silvery, clear, and pure.

M-Charge: The Blood of Saint Nora can store very large amounts of mana in a similar way to a Diamond. People who ae descended from Saint Nora can use this mana to manipulate time itself.

A-Charge: When charged with Aether, it will slowly bleed off the excess aether over time in the form of a healing aura. Unlike Jade and Pink Rubies, this healing aura is constant regardless of the amount of aether charged.

A-Saturation: When saturated with aether, Saint Nora's Blood will start to have an effect on the souls of living things. They will feel very uneasy, and the person holding the crystal may have their soul sucked right out of their body and sent to the World Tree.
Price: 55,000 Beryls per carat

Type: Celestial Mineral

Composition: Seems to be chemically similar to a Diamond.

Density: 5.1g/cm3

Color: Silver

Fluorescence: bright white

Gem Forging: Gem steel made from Saint Nora's blood cannot harm a living thing. A blade will phase through living matter as if it didn't exist. When charged with Aether, the blade becomes a sort of Soul Render, able to harm invisible spirits, possibly even destroying them. When at saturation the blade can sever the soul from a living body, but reaching this saturation point is incredibly difficult.

Consumption: If consumed in even the smallest amounts, the blood of Saint Nora will kill the person who consumed it, sending their spirit to the Wellspring of Souls to be judged by Saint Nora. If it is used on a recently deceased body, then it has the opposite effect, recalling the soul back to the body.

Effects on god touched humans: No effect on most people with a God Trace. When used on a person who is descended from Saint Nora, such as a Vernador, it will temporarily possess them, turning them into an Avatar of Saint Nora, vastly powering up their magical capability. And since they are channeling Nora as she was as an Elder Goddess, they also have absolute control over time while they are possessed.

Common uses: Mercure Elixers markets a Revival Elixer that has the same effects as when this blood is consumed. Saint Nora's blood is also popular for use in making anti-spirit weaponry, though it is absurdly expensive to do so.

Locations Found: At the end of the Bronze Age, when Nora sacrificed herself, she bled out at the base of Meliheal and the roots carried her blood all over Vreathe. Her blood is found in great quantities in Cassel, Irrelith, Galleska, and Faeon. Reaching this blood is another matter as it requires cutting into the roots of Meliheal to extract, which is unbelievably dangerous to do.

Blood of Yanneth

Description: Yanneth is the Elder goddess of Creation. All life is connected to her and nothing could have drawn breathe without her, not even the creations of other gods. Her blood takes the form of pure translucent yellow crystals. These Drops of Creation have the ability to warp life itself and have a variety of seemingly unrelated effects.

M-Charge: when charged with mana, the Blood of Yanneth will project a field of life energy, specifically attuned to plants. This is not a field of healing energy. Plants within a 10 meter radius will experience rapid growth when under the effects of this crystal. This is very similar to the effects caused by a Leaf Sapphire, but the difference is that a leaf sapphire requires aetheric saturation to achieve this effect, while the blood of Yanneth only requires mana.

A-Charge: Aether has no passive effect other than a blue glow. Aether from this crystal can be used to cause inanimate objects to come to life. Long dead bodies will reanimate. Since Souls are within Nora's Domain, these living things are mindless and require instruction and a strong will to control.

A-Saturation: Keep saturated gems away from women (or anyone who is using magic to take the form of a woman). When saturated with Aether... It will cause females caught within a 10 meter radius to spontaneously conceive. When born, this child is an almost perfect clone of the female. Females born this way have the Leaf Trace and are descendants of both their mother and the Elder Goddess Yanneth.
Price: 74,000 Beryls per carat

Type: Celestial Mineral

Composition: Similar to a Topaz gem but almost weightless

Density: 0.25 g/cm3

Color: Deep yellow. Appears green in sunlight.

Fluorescence: Glows Bright blue

Gem Forging: Weapons made with this crystal have no noticeable effects. This is because Yanneth's domain is life and tools of destruction do not work using her power. Other objects can be made with gemsteel though. A common object is known as a Green Nail. When driven into a plant, it will cause the plant to experience massive growth. It will also reanimate dead wood, such as the boards on a house. When driven into a body, it will reanimate the body for as long as the nail is driven in the body.

Consumption: Unless the person has any god trace, consuming blood will turn them into a Dryad, a servant of Yanneth. They turn into a strange plant-like female being, an immitation of her. This is permanent. They are are suddenly compelled by the Will of Yanneth to shepherd the forests and help things grow. They immediately leave civilization and go into the woods to find their fellow dryad sisters and are often never heard from again.

Effects on god touched humans: Someone with the Leaf Trace can temporarily turn into an avatar of Yanneth, gaining all of her abilities, and can shape creation and life, reanimate the dead, and more. Any other type of God Trace will gain some power over creation and can reshape plants, thought not as vast. They can reshape plants and their own body, but that is about the extent of it.

Common uses: Green nails are a common tool used by Lumberjacks. Ater cutting down a tree, they will drive the nail into the stump, encouraging it to regrow. The tree isn't fully restored before the nail loses its power, but it is a good start from what was originally a stump. The nail can be reused after it is recharged of its magic.

Green nails are also popular tools with Necromancers. Usually they have to use another type of nail, a Red Nail of Tarcur, to dominate the reanimated mind, otherwise they would have no control.

There is a cult of females in Cassel that uses the blood of Yanneth to clone themselves. The best guess of any scholar is that they have been doing this for thousands of years. Their village at any given time has 500 women, but only 20 sets of DNA, which means there are 25 clones of each woman with a variety of ages. There are rumors that they kidnap young woman and force them to concieve a clone for some unknown purpose, but these claims have never been verified.

Locations Found: In the earliest days of Vreathe, Yanneth regularly pricked her fingers and let her blood drip across the world, causing many plants to grow. Usually this completely drains the blood of its magic and it never has a chance to crystalize, but there are rare instances where it gets buried in the earth before it has the chance to do anything. There is no common location on Vreathe to find Yanneth's blood, just a lot of luck.

Blood of Tazil (Chaos and Domination)

Description: At the start of the golden Age, when Tazil gell from grace, he was no longer the god of Order. Nora took over that domain, while Tarcur became the god of chaos and domination. Throughout the Silver Age, he has bled numerous times, and the crystalized blood is known as Drops of Chaos.

M-Charge: When charged with mana, a field is projected. the radius and power of the field is determined by the mana charge. Anything caught in this field will experience chaos and decay at a vastly accelerated rate. Cancers will develop and the body will grow frail. Objects will rust away and rot.

A-Charge: The effects are random and can take on the qualities of literally any other aethercite crystal in existence. Bronze Age texts mention a way to force the Blood of Tazil to transform into that crystal, but the process involves a named crystal called Tazansitinite. No known records of this crystal exists in the Iron Age. It could possibly be Tanzanite but Iron Age scholars have been unable to replicate the process with that crystal.

A-Saturation: At saturation, the person holding the gem is able to place their will on others in a radius of about 50 meters. Resisting this will is extremely painful, not physically, but mentally.
Price: 10,000 Beryls per carat

Type: Celestial Mineral

Composition: No known similar crystal

Density: Random

Color: Dark red, almost black

Fluorescence: Glows random colors

Gem Forging: Weapons made with this crystal have a deformed, sickly appearance, as if the object imbued with this aethercite will fall apart at any moment. In reality it couldn't possible be stronger. Anyone cut with these Chaos Blades start to immediately deteriorate. Their cuts gets much larger than would be possible with the weapon by itself. Chaos will engulf the victim.

Red Nails are also made with this. These nails when driven into a person, alive or dead, they are compelled to follow the orders of the person who drive the nail in, or they will face great pain. Even the strongest wills are broken with these nails. What's worse is the nail doesn't seem to do any actual damage to the body, instead it is all mental pain.

Consumption: Consuming this gem will cause the body to fall apart from the inside out. Cancers grow out of control while every other cell commits programmed death. Humans with a god trace can resist these effects for some time.

Common uses: the knowledge to forge Chaos Blades was lost during the Bronze Age. Red Nails are very commonly forged however. The worst sort of criminals use these nails to control living beings for slavery, trafficking, torture, and worse. Necromancers will use these red nails in conjunction with a Green Nail to control raised undead. Beast masters are known to use these nails to enforce obedience in beasts, who will follow commands long after the nail is removed.

Locations Found: Tazil's blood can be found in a number of locations across Vreathe. It is often confused for Hematite but can be told apart by the random glowing colors when charged with mana. There is also a variety of Bloodstone called Chaos Stones that have blotches of Tazil's blood in them instead of normal Iron Oxide. They can be told apart from normal bloodstone with the same method.

Blood of Tazil (Order)

Description: Up until the start of the Golden Age, Tazil was the God of Order and Dragons. He bled only a handful of times, and the crystals that formed from his blood are known as Drops of Order.

M-Charge: When charged with mana this crystal seems to project a field that resists the effects of entropy or chaos. Any object that bathes in this field of energy will resist entrophy for years after. Even people won't grow old while this energy stays inside them and any cancers that were growing inside of them are killed.

A-Charge: Levels of Order are built upon levels of Order. How that is even possible cannot be properly described. Injuries and the effects of time are healed. Ages are reversed. It doesn't reverse time, but it puts things in a state as if time never affected it, as if the person or object was immortal during that time.

A-Saturation: Records are incomplete. Since we know what the effect of a God Slayer blade can do (remove immortality) it is assumed that aetheric saturation will also cause this to anyone caught in the blast radius when it gives off all of its aether.
Price: 100,000,000 Beryls per carat

Type: Celestial Mineral

Composition: No known similar crystal

Density: 5g/cm3

Color: Clear. Reflects a prism of colors.

Fluorescence: None. Naturally glows white in dark places

Gem Forging: Steel weapons forged with these crystals are known as God Slayers. The blade takes on a crystaline property and become translucent. They have the ability to rend immortality from a godly being. During the Bronze Age, seven of these god slayers were forged. During the final war of the gods at the end of that age, several gods had their immortality taken away. These blades cannot take away the immortality of the Golden Race of humans. They can only end their life if they will it and by edictof Silnos the Creator, there are no exceptions.

Consumption: While it has zero effect on normal humans, consuming this crystal will turn anyone with a god trace into an actual god. There's no other way to describe it. The person who consumes this blood literally becomes immortal and through the power of Silnos the Creator, they are given a domain they have absolute control over. Several notable examples of this have occurred.

During the Silver Age, when the All-Fire nearly destroyed all of reality, Ibora the Goddess of Water sacrificed herself to put it out. There needed to be a new goddess of water, so one of her grandchildren was given a Drop of Order. Engara was her name. She was a human with the Aqua Trace. She consumed the crystal and immediately ascended to godhood.

Common uses: In the Iron Age, there are no known common uses. The God Slayer blades do still exist. Five of them are stored in the imperial vaults of the empire of Irrelith. The location of the other two are unknown.

Locations Found: Only one crystal is known to exist. It is kept in the imperial vaults of the Empire of Irrelith. During the Bronze Age, there were dozens of such crystals, which is why details and uses for this crystal are known.

Blood of Alom

Description: Alom is the elder god of Space. He embodies the concept of infinity. Alom has only ever bled once, and that was midway through the Silver Age when he was imprisoned on the lesser moon Nodan along with Yanneth and Tarcur. His blood crystalized into black droplets, Drops of Infinity with incredible weight and density, and crashed into Vreathe, destroying many towns and cities.

M-Charge: When charged with mana, this crystal will start to generate a gravity field. This is similar to the field a Gravity Stone will generate at aetheric saturation, but on a completely different level.

A-Charge: When charged with aether, the crystal will start to do strange things to the person holding it. This person will gain the ability to manipulate mass and gravity with east. They will be able to fly and more. They also gain the ability to See Infinity at infinite distances.

A-Saturation: At aetheric saturation, the effect is similar to that of a True BloodStone, but as opposed to simply being infinitely aware of everything with blood in the multiverse, a drop of infinity will make you aware of everything, period. You are aware of every grain of sand on every beach on every world in every galaxy in every universe, and that's just the start. You are aware of the atoms that make up every one of those grains of sand, as well as every other object. Unlike a True Bloodstone, this true infinite awareness doesn't seem to break the mind, as if the power of Alom or perhaps Silnos the Creator is helping you to stay sane.
Price: 95,000 Beryls per carat

Type: Celestial Mineral

Composition:

Density: 100g/cm3

Color: Completely Black

Fluorescence: -none-, Should be noted that this gem actively destroys any light that touches it even without a mana or aether charge

Gem Forging: Gemsteel swords forged with this weapon are known as Infinity Swords. They give the user control over gravity so long as they can channel the appropriate amounts of mana through the blade. These blades are also super heavy and dense, being twice as heavy as normal steel and many times stronger. Properly using a sword this heavy is rather difficult.

This type of gemsteel is also sometimes used to create Black Nails. These nails are dangerous to use. Driving it into yourself gives you super awareness of everything in a 250 meter radius. It also makes you super aware of everything in the same radius of every other black nail in existence on Vreathe. Anyone else who has one of the black nails driven into them is also aware of you.

Consumption: DO NOT CONSUME if you are not god touched! Consuming this crystal will cause the person who consumed it to collapse into a temporary black hole, which will then quickly evaporate away into nothing.

Effects on god touched humans: Consuming a drop of his blood will bring you before the creator of the Universe, Silnos, who created Alom and the other Elder Gods. Alom may embody infinity in the universe, but he was created by a greater infinity. According to humans and elves that consumed his blood in the past, Alom will ask you three questions. If you answer them to his satisfaction, he will give you power, knowledge, and more. If you do not answer them correctly, he will destroy you, body and spirit, and it will be as if you never existed.

Common uses: Throughout history, powerful humans and elves have used the blood of alom to accomplish great and terrible deeds, but due to the rarity of his blood, there is no real common use for them other than the black nails. As a user of a black nail is aware of all of them at once, people can reliably report that there are around 3500 of them in existence.

As for the Infinity Swords, only three are known. One of them is in a vault in the Palace of Wrethilin in South Cassel. One is in the royal vault in the Empire of Irrelith. the last one is held by the King of Faeon.

Locations Found: Most of these very dense crystals sank to the center of Vreathe when they were created, but sometimes they rest on a very dense substance and rest there until they are found. These gems are sometimes found in the mountains. Alom's blood did not harm Meliheal the World Tree, so sometimes these gems are also found resting on the roots of this tree.
