Peacekeeper Diplomacy

"Peacekeeper Diplomacy is eyes and hands of the Peacekeeper Alliance, looking out for new opportunities and inviting people in to the Alliance's welcoming embrace.   The Emissaries, who work with in the Diplomatic Pillar, are known for their ability to get on with people. They are equally good at being at the centre of things and fading into the background. But they are not to be underestimated."

Structure

As with all parts of the Peacekeeper Alliance, there is a strict heirarchy within the Diplomatic Pillar. Everyone within this organisation reports into Head of Peacekeeper Diplomacy, and they in turn report into Peacekeeper Command.

Four Branches

There are four branches within Peacekeeper Diplomacy, each of which serve very different and specific roles.

Investigation

To Find
The aim of people working within Investigation is to seek out new potential planets and peoples who could benefit from the services of The Alliance, and who could benefit The Alliance in turn.

Logistics

To Arrange
The aim of the people working within Logistics is to arrange for everything that is needed for the other parts of their organisation. This includes the potential deployment of military support if necessary.

Negotiations

To Facillitate
The Emissaries within Negotiations handle the meat of the Diplomactic Pillar. They are the face of The Alliance to potential new worlds, and represent The Alliance's best interests in the creation and signing of new treaties.

Relations

To Integrate
Once a planet has signed a treaty, it is the job of the Relations people to assimilate the new world into The Alliance and ensure that they are capable of upholding the terms of the treaty that they have signed, whether or not they are aware of them before they signed.

Culture

"A good Emissary is able to make a world dance to whatever tune they choose to play. A great Emissary can do the same without them hearing the tune."

People are known to join the Diplomatic Pillar for at least one of several reasons:
  1. To explore the universe
  2. Emissaries have to travel across the universe as part of their job, including spending years living on planets which don't have much experience of Peacekeepers.
  3. To enjoy the conflict
  4. A lot of the jobs involve dealing with conflict. It is not unusual for people who are part of this Pillar to thrive in high stress situations.
  5. To make a name for themselves
  6. Peacekeepers who facilitate particularly successful peace treaties may have their name associated with the treaty and certainly go down in Peacekeeper history and are taught at the Academy.
Within the Peacekeeper Diplomacy organisation, they promote and value those who show initiative. While there is a constant theme of teamwork and working for the betterment of The Alliance, it is those who stand out at being able to lead, make decisions and problem-solve unaided who tend to succeed.

Public Agenda

The aim of Peacekeeper Diplomacy is to bring new planets, worlds and peoples into the Peacekeepr Alliance. They are there to ensure that the worlds join peacefully and that both sides benefit from the arrangement.   They get to know each planet and its people, understand the difficulties they are having and help them resolve them. They then work on a treaty which allows the planet to join The Alliance, and are around after the signing to help facilitate the integration of the planet into the new intergalactic community it has just joined.
