Peace Treaty Template

The Peacekeeper Alliance, heretofore referred to within this Treaty as The Alliance, and the Party named in section 1.4.1, heretofore referred to within this Treaty as The Planetary Body, have written this document with the following shared principles in mind:
  1. It is in the common interest to avoid violence or agression between all parties.
  2. It is in the common interest to uphold peace within their own borders and between all parties.
  3. All efforts made towards these principles will be in the common good, no matter what form they might take.

Purpose

The aim of the Peace Treaty Template is to ensure that any new planet or system joining The Peacekeeper Alliance is bound by the same rules as all of the others. It ensures a level of equality between all of those within the Peacekeeper Territories, and also ensures that The Alliance is able to get what it needs from the arrangement.

Document Structure

Clauses

The treaty template is broken down into several different sections. Each of these sections drives towards the ultimate purpose of the treaty. There are areas within each section which are designed to be adapted for the specifics of the peace agreeement.

Section 1

The foundations of the treaty are laid out here, including specifics of the peoples, places and relevant dates, and signatures.

Section 2

This section is for the basis of the agreement and the conditions underwhich the agreement was being made.

Section 3

This is where any agreements between different peoples on the planet is held if needed, laying out a method for aligning everyone under a single governing body.

Section 4

This section lays out the terms of the treaty and what each party brings to the peace agreement, including any assets or services.

Section 5

The fifth section covers clarifications and specifications for previous four sections, including any additional fine print.

Section 6

The final section is dedicated to repercussions which will be served upon both parties in the case that any of the terms of the treaty are broken.

Caveats

Sections 5 and 6 of the treaty are often underestimated by the planets signing the agreement, but the Peacekeepers understand that this is where the battle is won.   There are several major caveats which are included as standard. These specify that in the instance that one of the following criteria is not met, that the Peacekeepers shall take control of the Command Post and populate it with their own people. This includes any failures by the planet to meet the requirements around, to name a few:
  • the times within which a Command Post should be established
  • the amenities within a Command Post
  • the security of the local storage database for the documentation
  • the speed with which decisions are reported to The Alliance
  • prevention of violence by people on the planet
  • prevention of agression by people on the planet against each other or The Alliance or the Command Post

Historical Details

History

The template was initially created in the late 300s PT, after The Second Micro Rebellion which prompted The Minor Unrest on P'Ache Minor, when they realised that the Macrans had been offered a very different agreement to the one which they had signed.

Legacy

It has been adjusted several times over the past 4 millennia to account for unforeseen circumstances, and to add clarifications, but the meat of it remains the same.   The template has been lauded within the Peacekeeper Territories as being the most effective tool in achieving peace and in so doing improving the universe.
