Demographics

All current inhabitants of Asil are Vellich, and the make up of the village is very similar to all other settlements in Vellikka, with all the major professions.

Government

The village is ruled by the Village Ruler, an elder called Ottmar Ruler who has been in the position for several decades.

History

The area now occupied by the village of Asil was originally settled by the Jakunguh as a potential tourist destination called the Portem Villas. The Jakunguh built four independent villas on the south side of the small island off the mainland. These villas shared a large garden and courtyard as well as a Tanka landing strip. Each villa also had its own garden, cliff-side pool and meditation garden. 
When the Jakunguh abandoned Vellikka because it wasn't turning out to be the intergalactic travel hot-spot they were hoping for, they left all of the infrastructure behind. 
The villas were discovered by the Vellich thousands of years later, and thought to be a gift left by the spirits. The villas themselves stand untouched and the village of Asil sits on what was once the shared garden and courtyard.

Points of interest

Due to the villas left behind by the Jakunguh, the people of Asil are more spiritual than most. On the rare occasions when mainlanders travel across to Asil, they spend a lot of time visiting each of the "Places of Spirits" and leaving small gifts in each of the pools.
