Fledgling Mentorship Program

The Fledgling Mentorship Program was established by the Chimera agency (although several counterparts exist at various agencies around the world and it was heavily inspired by a flourishing program in Romania) to help newly turned vampires abandoned by their sires or otherwise isolated, to start new lives in a safe and less-destructive way.    There are three ways a vampire can enter the mentor program. They can be enrolled as an alternative to confinement, self-surrender to the agency (as some new vampires are known to do, assuming hunters will know how to manage their condition), or as of 2018, be rolled over from the Early Intervention program if they die while enrolled in that.    The program pairs an experienced vampire (often ex-hunters who are well versed in both worlds and understand the legal ramifications) with a fledgling, helping the fledglings find legal employment, safely transition to synth-blood drinking while minimizing relapses, and re-integrate into society in their new un-life.    There are several tiers of mentorship. Any vampires enrolled as an alternative correctional action are kept in the program a minimum of two years. Self-surrenders, unless noted by their mentor as high risk, are obligatorilly enrolled for one year, with options to continue if they feel they need more support. Rollovers from EI can have mentorship terms as short as six months, as they were already taught the basic strategies for managing their condition in the EI program.

History

The mentor program was the brainchild of Emma Cole and John Stoker. Emma, who managed her fledgling phase with the help of an open coven based in Chinatown, wanted to offer a similar assistance to new vampires who might have a harder time finding help than a former hunter who knew all the local covens and their characteristics.
