Geography

Major Regions

Tsargis Mountains

The Tsargis Mountains lie in the northwestern part of the continent and serve as the gateway to northern Kos. Tall impenetrable peaks touch the coast and curl south. They're rich with ore, and the dwarves guard it fiercely. The mountains are also known for their portals to godly realms and steep descents into the Deeplands.

Wyvern Tooth Mountains

The long mountain range in eastern Kos protects the Nefalina Forest. It borders the eastern coast with forests and valleys and along the northern edge touches the Uk Qezin Desert. The sharp rocky cliffs make passage over the mountains nearly impossible, and the grey rocks burst out of the ground.

Uk Qezin Desert

Situated at the center of the continent is a vast desert. Reptilians call it home due to their resistance to the extreme temperature swings. To everyone else, the rocky and sandy landscape is nearly inhospitable.

Twin Spire Reach

Beyond the northern shores of the main continent lies a long mountainous island known for two jagged peaks like viper fangs. Beyond the Reach is a frozen ocean that stretches to the horizon and beyond. People still manage to survive in such hostile conditions, and the humans who settled on the island live in whatever protected recesses they can find.

Minor Regions

Vrania Forest

The southernmost peninsula is dominated by ancient Iltaufaya trees and bathe the landscape in an unnatural pinkish hue and an eternal spring. It's the ancestral home of the elves and borders the Dragon Sea and Virkelta Ocean. The currents connect it with The Basin in Akea, and trade between the two continents thrives.

Nazara

The vast swamps in the southwestern part of Kos are difficult to traverse to all but the lizardfolk who build floating towns that drift with the wind and water. Large insects and carnivorous fish can make the swamps undesirable for most, and lack of reliable maps means it's easy for travelers to get lost.

Realjun

Realjun is the vast grassland north of the Uk Qezin Desert. Centaurs dominate the region, and it's known for being fertile land. It has become the northern breadbasket for the continent, and small villages and towns dot the landscape. In autumn, the land is swathed in gold from the wheat ready to harvest.

Inhabitants

Kos has the largest population of humanoids with two groups of dwarves, the ancestral home of the elves, and currently the primary home of humans. It's also home to many goblin clans and orc tribes. The lizardfolk and snakefolk dominate the Uk Qezin Desert and Nazara, though they can be found elsewhere in smaller numbers. Of the beastfolk, it's primarily home to catfolk and centaurs with smaller populations of ratfolk and rabbitfolk in coastal cities.
