Ru Bolvig is one of the few dwarven settlements in Akea to exist above ground. It's connected to the port town of Hadarut. Ru Bolvig is on the northern edge of the mountains. The regular population is primarily a mix of dwarves, birdfolk, and hobgoblins. It's one of the few places where the different groups can peacefully coexist. The town is built up around a deep water hot spring. They believe that Hathchan stopped there for a night and lay down creating the plateau. In the morning, before setting off to go deeper into the mountains, he scooped out part of the rock for a drink of water underneath. The name Ru Bolvig means "The Bowl Place" in Dwarvish. It's primarily a pilgrimmage site and is a commong stopping point for merchants and traders. Most of their food comes from the nearby small dwarven farms in the mountain and the birdfolk hunters. Mining is strictly forbidden to avoid damaging the sacred site. The town is run by three elders and often with the advice of the temple high priest. Townsfolk vote directly for their elders, and the three with the most votes win. Typically, this balances out to having one of each species represented. They create the laws and are assisted by an elected magister who enforces the laws along with a town guard. Young dragonfolk commonly pass through the town on their way into the mountains to search for dragons to bond with. It's one of the last above ground settlements that they can reach. The birdfolk build eyries high up in the mountains, but those are only accessible by air and aren't open to outsiders. The hot spring itself is located higher up in the mountain than the town, and it's about an hour hike to get there. The town is divided into three districts: the temple district which houses the main temple to Hathchan, the pilgrim district where most of the trade and taverns are located, and The Commons where the residents live and where most of the ordinary shops are.
