Königsburg is the capital city of The Kingdom of Praumsterland (Preumshpraak: Königreich Prümsterlaundt). Along the Western coast of the Continent of Euron, few settlements match the glamour and beauty of Königsburg. It is situated in Krounstadt Reichsland, along the Saygelnschaor Road, halfway between Starkfeste and Sturmhafen, specifically between Königswald and Edelstein. The city's harbor is protected from storms by Haafscheld Island. It is the largest city in Euron as a whole, both in terms of population and size. This ancient, fortified port city is not just the capital of the Kingdom it is also a major trade hub, facilitating vital maritime trade between Njorskarmarkr, Khaz Glittrum Kadrel , and The Crowned Chiefdom of Fionmagh. It is also the most popular port of call for sailors from Ashad and Duryad. Its portside pubs and inns are well known for their rowdy atmosphere, while the landside offerings are more subdued, even genteel.

Government

Königsburg is the seat of power of Praumsterland and is governened and administered by the Kronburgs Konzil headed by the Royal Kronburgmeister Reinbolt Volkraft. The Royal Kronburgmeister, is personaly appointed by the Queen of Praumsterland. All officials serve at his pleasure. The Kronburgmeister signs or vetoes policies suggested by the Königsburg Konzil--a group of six public servants appointed by each of the city's districts.   Being within the Kingdom, the city follows the laws organized by it. However, everyone knows better than to cross Reinbolt Volkraft.

Industry & Trade

Although much of Praumsterland's trade enters the realm through Königsburg's sister city, Sturmhafen, Königsburg is an economic giant in its own right. Having outsourced much of its maritime regulation, mercentile activity and defense to the cities of the north, Königsburg focuses its efforts on exotic goods: silks from Ashad and Shou'wan, luminescent pearls from Nympharum, and enchanted spices that dance on the tongue from Duryad.

Infrastructure

Königsburg is carved out of a colossal stone hill overlooking the Haafscheld Strait. It is popularly believed to resemble a Direwolf sejant howling, when viewed during a full moon. The infrastructure in Königsburg could be accurately described as impeccable. The city is quite clean and beautiful. Most homes are constructed from whitewashed wood and stone while businesses, municipal structures, and the noble mansions are made from localy sourced white marble.   The kings of antiquity built a ringfort on the peak, and as millenia have passed its natural defenses have been expanded with walls, gates, and watchtowers. The base of the city contains large sea-carved caverns. The stone has been mined for thousands of years, so there are hundreds of mineshafts in the depths of Königsburg, as well as yet untouched of veins of both silver and adamantine.

Districts

  • Crown Market District: The economic heart of Königsburg, where merchants from across the kingdom come to sell their wares. The market is known for its vibrant stalls and the iconic Burgerwacht Tower. One of the most intimidating and inspiring buildings in the city topped with its fluttering banners, is the fortified headquarters of the Crown Market Watch. Its brilliantly white, four-story, marble walls, and meridium spires are visible from anywhere in the city.
  • Royal Harbor District: Home to the personal barge of the Her Majesty the Queen as well as the admirality of Königsburg, this district is the primary harbour for seatraders, and thus, filled with docks, warehouses, and the salty air of the sea. The Harbor Master’s Office oversees the comings and goings of ships from distant lands.
  • Koopmaun's District: the beating economic heart of Königsburg. Fish markets abound, as do general stores, blacksmiths, and trinket shops catering to visitors and sailors.
  • Titanthrone Hall District: Perched at the highest accessible point of Haduric's Hill, Titanthrone Hall is the seat of power in Königsburg. This majestic castle complex serves as the residence of the royal family and a symbol of the kingdom’s power. It houses the city's council, elite and nobility and serves as a fortress, with a clear view of any approaching threats. Its high towers and white, fortified walls are visible from every corner of the city. This area is rich in history, with old cannons and walls that tell stories of past battles. More of a district than a single castle, Titanthrone Hall covers several city blocks. Although much of it is the personal property of the Queen, it is crisscrossed by several major roads and surrounds several dwellings belonging to princes or favored courtesans.
  • Klyffscheld District: The second of Königsburg's bustling ports. The Klyffscheld Docks specialize in manufactured goods.
  • South Docks: One of three port districts. The South Docks import most of Königsburg's food. As a result, the South Docks are usually swarming with beggars, thieves, and other social refuse. Although not as busy as the other ports in the city, Königsburg’s southern harbor is a quaint area where small fishing boats and trade vessels dock.
