Government

Defences

While there is an Imperial Legion constantly rotated through the capital, as Luminar is the traditional home of the Emperor the city's primary defense is the Praetorian Guard.

Industry & Trade

Infrastructure

Being the largest city in the world, as well as the most heavily populated certain industries were an absolute requirement. Foremost among this is the water treatment system. Sewers running throughout the city collect the populaces waste and take it to a resovoir outside the city where it is pushed through a series spell infused filters which destroy and eliminate the waste and purify the water. The now cleaned water is magically pumped back into the cities's aqueducts where the local denizens can collect water and bring it back to their homes as needed.

Assets

Luminar is the capital city of the wealthiest nation in the world, its assets are negligible. Anything one country has, they have an more. Its most prized asset however, is utterly unique to the Platinum City of Light: the Titans of Creation. Commissioned over a century ago by the late Emperor Quintis Calavius Iuvenlis, these 1,000ft tall statues of seven of the Forces of Creation are one of the wonders of the world. Taking almost 200 years to complete and constructed almost entirely by magic, the statues are blessed by divine favors to remain standing when modern architecture says they should not. Depicting only six of the twelve Forces, Batyx , Felios, Aqris, Edall, Disoi, Yldia and Solun, the work was originally intended to include all twelve, but the project nearly bankrupt the Empire and Quintis' successors ultimately decided to call it short. Still it remains one of the most magnificent mortal creations in the history of the world and travelers come from all over the world to pray at the feet of the Gods.

In addition to the Titans, the Imperial Palace also pays tribute to the Forces of Creation in the form of the Eternal Beacon: a magically sustained beam of light that constantly bursts from the peak of the Palace, burning hot enough to separate the clouds.

History

Architecture

The main architectural style of Luminar is a post modern classical style, featuring white Edanian concrete (a mixture of lime mortar, aggregate, pozzolana, water, and stones) which is stronger and more lasting than the limestone used commonly in the Equikoran continents. The stylistic design features large open entry ways, while marble columns and lavishly landscaped courtyards for even the lowest of the noble classes. The peasantry find homes in multi room apartments in small complexes centered around a courtyard shared by perhaps 16 units.

Geography

The City of Luminar is location in a wade break in the Imperial Peaks known as the jagged pass. It is called such for the miles of jagged hills and small mountains that fill the pass and serve as the only real path to the northern tundras of Edane.

Natural Resources

The Imperial Peaks and specifically the Jagged Pass is the main mining region of the Empire, gold, silver, copper, tin, and lead can be found in abundance in this region.
