Batyx

Force of Stability

And behold, reaching up from the earth is the Creation of Batyx, who is Cidon's younger brother and truest friend. N’er there was a more perfect embodiment of strength and stability, and to him we all pray that we too might find stability in our lives. And when the world was formed, up from the ground rose his interpretation of the vision of Solun, which are and have been majestic mountains spread throughout the earth. And yea, verily he is to this day found in any of those mountain ranges that reach high unto the sky.

Creation 2:3

Batyx represents the divine virtue of stability and his creations are the mountains reaching towards the sky all over Unorrea. He is often revered by his followers as the most reliable of the Forces, but he is also one of the most withdrawn from mortality, choosing to spend most of his time aloft in the heights of his creation instead of walking among the children of Solun.

Divine Domains

Batyx's influence rest entirely in the mountains and thus most of his worshipers are members of barbarian tribes, dwarven skyposts and fringe outposts that call those climates his home. Its not uncommon to see effigies of Batyx constructed along highways and trails weaving through the mountains and many travelers passing through mountains will pray to Batyx beforehand for guidance, good weather and protection from the decidedly harsher beasts that call the mountains their homes.

Mountains have anciently been viewed as conduits or access points between the earth and the heavens and Batyx is affiliated with the ideology of constantly striving to improve oneself and forever trying to climb the slopes of life in a pursuit of heavy and mortality. Mountains are often viewed as barriers and obstacles, and so Batyx is heavily affiliated with stalwartness, steadfastness in ones beliefs and a general sense of immovability in ones principles. This ideology is personified greatest in the Goliath tribes centralized around the mountains of creation. Many of his champions and indeed his first Avatar was selected from the Goliath tribes.

Mountains have also been compared to temples in the world, and much of the writings of ancient priests include anecdotes where the priest travels to the mountain tops to attain a higher state of mind and be closer to the heavens when praying. As a result Batyx is commonly considered the high priest of the Forces and his influence in very strong in the hearts of clerics, missionaries and priests.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Batyx's symbol is a single mountain breaking through the clouds.

Tenets of Faith

Batyx's followers show their faith by sharing as often as they can the Tome of Solun. Often many of his followers will show their devotion to his domain by undergoing a mission for anywhere from several months to years trying to bring the people of the world closer to the Forces anywhere from as close as their neighbors to as far as the most remote villages in the jungles of South Equikora.

While there are no official holidays or festivals adoring Batyx, it is a common practice for his truly devout to undertake a pilgrimage to the Mountains of Creation in Edane and climb to the highest peak and offer a sacrifice to him in his name. For this it is said they are awarded divine clarity and some claim to be able to see glimpses of their future and others even have claimed to have supped with Batyx himself.

Temples to Batyx follow the ideology of Mountains being a conduit to heaven, and thus are ubiquitously built across several floors with the lower floors being used as meeting areas and the uppermost levels sectioned off for ceremonial purposes such as weddings and funerals with the top level being used as a special prayer room usually with large windows presenting vistas of the nearest Mountain range.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

As the high priest of the Forces, Batyx's focus is much on bringing others into a closer relationship with the Forces and Solun Himself. He doesn't just want new converts, as the Force's divinity is all but entirely unchallenged in Unorrea, instead he seeks to further each individual's relationship with the Forces on a personal level. This is largely seen as a contradiction by the other Forces as Batyx prefers to dwell in his creations far apart from the individuals he is trying to help. This is more of an expression of his character than a contradiction, as he believes that true conversion is a personal experience and sees too much direct involvement as an obstacle to conversion. Instead he encourages true conversion in his followers from a distance through slight presence and impressions and minor miracles playing the long game at conversion. Batyx invests a lot of support into churches both big and small, as well as any who chose to live in the mountains and respect their natural state, often protecting them from the harsher elements of the mountains.
