Culture and Cultural Heritage
Elves posses a cultural duality in Unorrea. During the ancient times before humans from Edane made their way to Equikora, the elves were all of a singular culture venerating their interpretation of the gods. However, when humans arrived they lands were slowly annexed into human held lands and interbreeding created a cultural division among elves separate from the genetic separation of elven subspecies.
Traditionalists
The traditionalist among the elves are those that hold true to the "Ancient Ways" (see Nemelia). The ancient ways are only practices in Nemelia, The Ironwood in Aldir and a few undocumented communities in South Equikora.
The Internationalists
Centuries have passed since the Humans arrived in Equikora, and centuries of integration and interspecies interaction has followed. As a result, a large portion of the elven population in the Equikoran continents have integrated within human culture, effectively abandoning their own. The traditionalist elves disdain internationalist elves for having abandoned their culture and, the way the traditionalists tell it, doomed their former culture to extinction.
History
Elves were the first creation of the Forces of Creation and as such are considered the older brothers of all mortality in Unorrea. They also, are the oldest and one of the longest living species in Unorrea.
Elves were the first to inhabit (and many people believe they were created in) the Equikoran Continents (North, South and the Lang Bridge between). Much of the Equikoran continents still bear evidence of their presence all across the landscape and many cities, such as Port Hathor, are built atop the ruins of ancient Elven settlements.
Unfortunately, with the arrival of Human settlers from Edane during the Age of Blood, many of the Elven settlements fell to human ambition and aggression. While most of the elves are above begrudging the humans for driving the elves out of their territory, most of them patiently wait. They know that humans are quick to expand, and quick to expire, and when they are gone the elves with be there to take back what was once theirs.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Elves are often considered haughty and arrogant, and while that is true in many cases, it is also well deserved. Dwarves and Elves are indifferent to each other, but Elves often look at humans as children. It is hard for them to see humans as more since most humans never even reach the age at which an elf is considered an adult. Elves live a long time and their time in this mortal plane gives them vast amounts of experience that humans rarely seem to want.
