Mountain Dwarves
Basic Information
Biological Traits
Mountain dwarves are, by dwarven account, the first iteration of dwarves in Unorrea. Since time immemorial mountain dwarves have made their homes in vast caverns beneath mountain and earth. As such they tend to be slightly taller than Hill Dwarves on average and slightly paler as they spend considerable less time in the sun than their closer-to-the-surface-dwelling brethren.
As is typical among dwarves they are a stout species, their short limbs and bodies often rippling with well developed muscles that their people are genetically predisposed to. Even their women are obviously tough and hardy folk.

Geographic Origin and Distribution
Mountain Dwarves are found almost everywhere, and build small homes and communities in and under mountains. That said, the two largest mountain dwarf settlements would easily be Kaer-Duval in north Aldir and the dwarven kingdom in the mountains of creation in Edane.

History
The second species created by the hands of Solun himself, dwarves are a hardy and reclusive folk living in massive tunnel networks built into and under mountains, hills and sometimes just land.
First among the dwarves are the mountain dwarves, the archetypal dwarves and what are generally considered to be the closest genetic example of what Solun designed ages passed. More than any other species in Unorrea, the mountain dwarves exemplify the creative spirit of their spiritual elder brothers, the Forces of Creation. Culturally focused on creation, invention and construction, the mountain dwarves shun outsider presence, influence and interaction. Often leaving the politics and goings-on of the world around them to others who are more concerned with it. As a result, historically speaking the mountain dwarves are directly responsible for most of the history making inventions, infrastructural achievements and so on.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Mountain dwarves have next to no contact with the other species of the world. This is not out of arrogance, or some other negative aspect, but more out of indifference and disinterest more than anything else. Mountain dwarves are very focused on their tasks at hand, whatever myriad craft that may be, and are extremely unconcerned with what happens outside of their caverns, tunnels and homes. Never before in history have the mountain dwarves mobilized their military for anything other than internal issues or defense of their own home. And never before have they been very interested in political or even social relations with other species beyond basic trade of needed imports.
