Personal history
Tristan was born in Ilyrium to the middle-class Gold family. Tristan's magic appeared quite young, and he was the top of his class during his school years. At the end of his Institute years, he applied to start his schooling to be a Librarian. He was accepted and Tristan was mentored by a Senior Librarian and was quickly hired on when he completed his Athenaeum education.
A few years after Tristan became a Librarian, Vesper Cross applied to be Tristan's apprentice . Tristan had never mentored before and didn't really desire to, but Vesper's academic record impressed him and so he accepted Vesper as his apprentice.
Tristan is well-respected in his field, but je prefers to work alone. He enjoys his solitude and lives at the very edge of Ilyrium to keep his privacy. Tristan (by choice) does not have many friends.

Like other children of United Britannia and Hibernia, Tristan started attending the Academy at age ten, and was then examined by the Magisterium at age fourteen. From the ages of fourteen to sixteen, he studied at the Institute, and then from sixteen to eighteen, he attended the Athenaeum, where he was given training by senior Librarians to prepare for his future career.

Tristan is a Librarian at the Great Library. He was raised to Librarian rank after serving as a Junior Librarian for only three years.

Like his apprentice, Vesper Cross, Tristan is a leader in his field of Dark Magic academics. Tristan publishes frequently and is often requested to speak at conferences all over the world.
