Librarian

Librarians are considered one of the most elite professions in United Britannia and Hibernia. Librarians engage in several areas of magical academics and complete published research on those areas. Additionally, Librarians also facilitate research for other magical occupations and aid witches in all of their research needs.
Librarians are highly respected because of their knowledge, but also because of the danger; Librarians travel extensively to acquire magical books and items, and those books/items are often combative when Librarians attempt to read or use them.
Vesper Cross was the only one in his class that qualified to become a Junior Librarian and his rank of Librarian at his age was a surprise to many, despite Vesper's skills.

Qualifications

All Librarians must graduate from the Athenaeum) as well as complete an Apprenticeship with a Librarian.

Career Progression

Librarians start out as Junior Librarians, then progress to regular Librarian, and then finally, Senior Librarian. In order to progress, a Librarian must show continual academic advancement, which is determined by a committee. (Continual academic success is usually measured by publications, conferences/talks, and procurement of magical books/items.)

Payment & Reimbursement

The pay for Librarians is quite handsome; Librarians are highly prized, and there are few. Junior Librarians' pay is still more than most professions, and regular Librarians are considered quite wealthy. (Senior Librarians are almost on a whole other income bracket than the rest of United Britannia and Hibernia.)

Other Benefits

Librarians are highly prized for their magical knowledge. Because of this, Librarians enjoy a prestige in society even above Council members. Many Librarians become famous across the world in their magical academic area and besides traveling across the world to just acquire magical items, they also visit other countries to participate in conferences and talks.

Purpose

Librarians are available for research help as well as acquiring other magical books/items. Librarians have the deepest knowledge of the Great Library, and all specialize in one or more magical academic areas.

Social Status

Becoming a Librarian is a highly sought after position; only five or six a class usually qualify to apprentice, and perhaps one or two make it to the role of Junior Librarian.

Librarians often face danger when acquiring new materials or items; as such, Librarians have to be extremely adept witches as well as being fantastic researchers.
